We got an initial estimate on 7-31-2020. We had some other questions about moving the a/c units so pavers could be put under that equipment and they came out to the house for a second look. We asked for a 7" deep pool. I was told their maximum was 5'6". We needed a stem wall at the back of the pool as the ground slopes down about 22"and we wanted a 4' walk around area for the pool. We were told a new price estimate would be out to us in a few days. We never heard back from them again! I got another pool builder and I got all the things I asked for.
After moving to St. Augustine we looked around for a pool builder that we could trust to do exactly what we wanted, when wanted and was referred to Duane Gilrie of Gilrie Pools by several people. At our first meeting Duane gave us suggestions and a quick layout so we could get an idea of how it would work with our limited backyard space. We live in the Moses Creek Preserve so over half of our lot is wetlands. Duane met with the local EPA representative and identified the exact location of the wetlands to maximize our pool area. He and his crew were super professional always here on time and got our pool completed when he said they would! His screen contractor also did an amazing job customizing our pool cage and always under the watchful eye of Mr. Gilrie. This was 9 years ago and our pool still looks amazing and we use it all the time! I would highly recommend Gilrie Pools to anyone looking for a truly custom pool and deck!
I would like to have written a review on this company but I can't. They are missing. They showed up, took all the information down for what we wanted. Told us it would be a few weeks before they could get the rendition of what we asked for. I waited a month before I reached out to them. I never got a return email or phone call. I called again two weeks later and spoke to the owner who apologized and promised he would get back to me. I'm still waiting. I wouldn't want someone who operates like this to build my pool.
We were hesitant about building a pool, thought we would just use our community pool. But after calling Gilrie Pools for a quote, Sarah came out to our house and after talking with us for a short time, she was able to quickly put together and beautiful design that was perfect for us and very reasonably priced. Construction started months earlier than originally expected and the pool was completed in 6.5 weeks. I was able to watch much of the construction, and watch how Duane was detailed and mad sure each phase was completed to perfection. I was also here each time the inspectors (3 different ones) came to inspect the pool. Each one had extremely high praise for Duane as a pool builder and let me know I had made the right decision. That's impressive to have inspectors make that comment. Where we we undecided on selections (pavers, tile colors, etc.) Sarah and Duane came up with outstanding selections. Duane built us a very beautiful and high quality pool that we now enjoy every day. Exceeded our expectations! Very highly recommend Gilrie Pools (and we did to many of our neighbors and friends).
Gilrie built a pool at my new home in 2011. Within months the pavers around the pool started to sag. Duane sent out a young worker to attempt fixing a couple low spots but there were too many areas needing to be repaired. After that he continued taking my calls and would always say, "no problem I will make it right but it won't be today or this week it'll probably be in two weeks or so". This went on for several months and a hand full of calls. Now I have to pay another company to fix his mistake.
