The best and the worst from each platform. Both, always.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Poolside Designs on multiple projects, and they consistently deliver exceptional results. Their quality of workmanship is outstanding — from layout and design coordination to the final finishes, every detail is handled with precision and professionalism. The pools they build not only look incredible, but they’re constructed with the durability and craftsmanship we expect on our custom homes. We value trade partners who take pride in their work and stand behind it — Poolside Designs absolutely does. We look forward to continuing our partnership on future projects.
Poor communication, very slow process. After showing design which we like very much but out of budget. Communicate budget figures to build a pool. The budget more than reasonable only 10k lower thank design price. Having over 1200 square feet of decking area around the pool though could be drastically reduce helping to meet my budget but rather reduce pool size by this company. Also pool features as back wall and planters could be eliminated reducing cost to meet budget. Many options could be reduced or eliminated but rather build a smaller pool. I have a very large yard Don’t want small pool that can’t swim though my budget can delivery meeting my expectations. Found other builder meeting my expectations focusing on the pool. Also very well documented process and structure plan step by step so you know what is going on. Not like my experience with Pool Designs. Good luck dealing with this company. I can not recommend it base on my experience.
Much like other people, I don’t normally feel compelled to write a review unless I’m extremely satisfied or extremely displeased. Fortunately this was because of the first. I did not, like other reviews, work with Derek Dixon. So, I cannot speak on him one way or another. I worked with Scott Victorine. He was unbelievable the whole way through. He listened to what we wanted, made some suggestions to try and help make our life easier. Walked me through why they were doing things so I understood the process. I interviewed roughly 8 different companies, and all of them seemed to be able to put a hole in the ground, but none of them had Scott. I can’t speak on other peoples’ experience, but my pool was worth what it was because of his due diligence and ability to continue to help when I was in need. Everyone looking for a pool may be able to get a pool built, but it’s the person’s experience that makes it worth it, and my experience with Scott was second to none.
Never received a call back
If you are thinking about building a pool know 2 things...it won't be cheap, and you need patience. And if you want to make the entire process as stress free as possible....give Poolside Designs a call. Derek Dixon and his team are true professionals. Derek said 21-24 weeks from start to finish....and he was spot-on! Any issue, any question....Derek was there 100% of the time making my wife and I always feel we made the right decision. Poolside Designs provided us multiple designs/layouts to get us to the product we wanted. During construction and building....Derek only aligns himself with the best support teams in the area...excavation, tiling, framework, gunite, electrical, plumbing, etc. We had selected another company originally who started to mislead us right after contract. We fired him and went right back to Poolside who was slightly more expensive but was completely trustworthy. Integrity and ethics are everything.
Poolside Designs completed a new pool construction at my home. The overall experience of having a new pool created, constructed and the customer service of this company surpasses the experience I have heard about from other friends, relatives and associates with regard to other companies. From the initial consultation with Matthew Powers, meeting Derek Dixon who came out to check the measurements and to insure that we as customers were satisfied all the until the completion and multiple interactions with Corey who took my husband and I through the ins and outs of the equipment I feel overjoyed to have had Poolside Designs create my vision.

We checked Poolside Designs of Ponte Vedra Beach against every pool builder in Florida — license CPC1456579, what they build, and where they stand.
Poolside Designs works from Turtle Cove Court in Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Johns County. Their Florida pool contractor license, CPC1456579, has been current since 2003 — twenty-three years unbroken. They publish an area page for Jacksonville.
Google shows 4.6 from 21 reviews, a shade above the Florida average of 4.52. Twenty-one customers is a moderate sample — enough to show a pattern, not enough to be certain of one. Five reviewers name the way the crew conducted itself on site. No complaint recurs across enough separate customers to form a theme.
New pool construction, renovation, screen enclosures, spas, water features and outdoor living work. Screen enclosures are worth a line in north-east Florida — a cage is often part of the same job. They publish almost no project photographs, so ask to see a portfolio when you call (904) 999-4120; twenty-three years of work will not be on the website.
