⸻ We’re absolutely thrilled with the experience we had with Ancient City Pools. From the initial design phase to the final touches, everything was completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in the construction are clear, and the end result is a pool we’ll enjoy for years to come. A huge thank you to Kyle, the owner, and Elmer, the project manager. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and steady guidance made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. They were patient with our questions, provided clear updates, and genuinely cared about getting everything just right. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, skilled, and customer-focused pool builder, we highly recommend Ancient City Pools. Kyle and Elmer are a fantastic team, and we’re so glad we chose them.

Ancient City pools is the way to go! From my first inquiry, Kyle responded timely and thoroughly. I had met with about a half dozen other pool builders beforehand and I was still undecided regarding which company to do business with, evaluating pool builder pros and cons. I was very organized with a folder for each company, I had a standard list of questions that I asked each one so I knew I was comparing apples to apples, etc… Kyle was legitimately interested in making my vision come to reality. Not once did he try to upsell me. In fact, I was the one asking him to adjust and customize this and that. He took time to LISTEN and he allowed me time in the showroom to let my creativity work. While in the beginning stages, I would have an idea and would email him. He almost always called me soon afterwards to discuss what I had in mind so he could better understand what options to email me back with. The online payments were easy. They stayed on schedule, even through holidays. Dig date was Nov. 11th and my fill date was January 11th. During the messy construction periods, Elmer and Kyle would answer any questions I had, and address any worries I had. I am IN LOVE with my pool and do not ever plan to move. If I do, I would use Ancient City Pools again, without hesitation.

We are so glad that we built our family pool with Kyle at Ancient City Pools and Design. We called Kyle to request a quote and he, by far, was the most informative and patient pool contractor we spoke with. On our first call, Kyle told us about how he builds pool (concrete type, strength, thickness, plaster type, etc) and was very detailed and thorough. He offered to come out to our house to see our yard and offer a more personalized estimate for the pool we were looking to build. Kyle helped us brainstorm ideas and then sent a design. He was more than willing to work with the changes we had and his turn around time was great. There was never any pressure to sign or make a quick decision, which we appreciated! We signed our contract with Kyle and were promptly put into permitting. Kyle has a beautiful showroom where you get to pick your colors, tiles, etc. While picking colors, we met Elmer, who oversees the construction process. Elmer is detailed and communicative! They told us what would be happening during each step and what to expect. It was nice to be able to send them a quick text if I had a question. They never made us feel like an inconvenience. Kyle promised us a 6 week turnaround time from the start of the dig to the time we were filling the pool with water. Sure enough, he stuck to that promise! Kyle builds highly quality pools in a quick timeframe and at a competitive price. We would happily recommend to anyone that they build they’re pool with Kyle at Ancient City Pools and Design!

About Ancient City Pool and Design, LLC

Learn everything about Ancient City Pool and Design of Saint Augustine — reviews, two licenses, and builds! Only at FloridaPoolz.

Who they are

Ancient City Pool and Design works from Scaff Road in Saint Augustine, St. Johns County, on two current Florida licenses — registered pool license RP252555482 since June 2018 and pool contractor license CPC1460284 since July 2023, the latter running to 2028. They build new pools and handle renovation, servicing, spas and outdoor living, and keep a written page for St. Johns.

What the reviews say

Google has them at 5.0 from 23 reviews — close to half a point above the Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders on this directory, with nothing on the record reading as a complaint. Twenty-three reviews is a modest record rather than a deep one, so treat it as a strong sign rather than a settled fact.

What is unusual is the balance. Eight reviewers name their professionalism, six the quality of the build, five their communication and five that the job kept to schedule. Schedule-keeping named by five of twenty-three is the highest proportion on this list, and it is the thing pool customers complain about more than anything else.

What they build

New pool construction, renovation, routine servicing, spas and hot tubs, and outdoor living, around Saint Augustine and St. Johns County. Their site carries a request to vote for them in a local award, which is a popularity contest rather than a credential — read it as marketing.

Before you sign

Ask which of the two licenses covers your job: the registered license dates from 2018 and the certified contractor license from 2023, and they are not the same thing. On 23 reviews, ask for two references and call them. The schedule praise is the most distinctive thing on their record, so ask for a completion date in writing and hold them to the standard their own customers describe. Ask for the insurance certificate, which Florida does not publish.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Is Ancient City Pool and Design licensed in Florida?

Two current licenses: registered pool license RP252555482 since June 2018 and pool contractor license CPC1460284 since July 2023, running to 2028. Ask which covers your job, and ask for the insurance certificate separately.

How does their rating compare with other Florida builders?

5.0 from 23 Google reviews, against a Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders on this directory. Well above the middle, though 23 reviews is a modest record — treat it as a strong sign rather than a settled one.

What do customers praise?

Eight name their professionalism, six the quality of the build, five their communication and five that the job kept to schedule. That last proportion is the highest on this directory, and slipping timetables are the most common complaint elsewhere on it.

What about the award they mention?

Their site asks visitors to vote for them in a local award. That is a popularity contest rather than a credential — read it as marketing, and judge them on the licenses and the references.
