Our pool was completed June 2022. We waited over a year in order to write an honest review of our experience with Patio Pools and of our finished pool. I can say right up front that we are thankful that we chose Patio Pools for our project. Our entire experience from design to installation and completion was positive. Design- Matt was very patient with us and helped us design a pool that blended beautifully into our backyard. He helped us create a custom pool feel without the custom pool price tag. We could not be happier with the overall design; it’s a little piece of paradise in our backyard! Install - To be honest, having a pool installed is messy and stressful. This was not our first time we had a pool installed so we were expecting that. If you are considering a new pool build you should expect that too. The crew made the process as easy as it can be by keeping us informed, keeping the worksite clean and working as efficiently as they could. They stuck to the estimated construction timeline and were polite and professional. They answered all of my questions along the way and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the finished pool. Every subcontractor that worked on our project spoke highly of Patio Pools and told us what a great company they were to work with. Completion - Pool school was helpful and informative. We have not had any issues with our pool in the past year outside of the normal learning curve with keeping the chemicals balanced. The store is only a phone call away and they are helpful and knowledgeable. A year later I can say that we wouldn’t change a thing. Overall we had a great experience, we have the pool that we imagined, and the ongoing support that we need to keep it in great shape for many years to come! 100% would recommend Patio Pools.

We recently worked with Patio Pools for a full-service pool renovation, including design, demolition of our old pool, and construction of our new pool & spa, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. From start to finish, their professionalism, responsiveness, and care were exceptional. A special shout-out to Matthew Messer—an outstanding partner throughout the entire process. Matthew was always readily available, incredibly communicative, and truly dedicated to helping us design exactly the right pool to fit our needs and preferences. His expertise and genuine commitment made a world of difference. The pool & spa construction itself took about 8 weeks, and that timeline held steady even though it spanned the holidays. The team worked efficiently without sacrificing quality, and I appreciated how transparent they were about progress and any adjustments along the way. When the project was finished, the pool and spa turned out absolutely beautiful. We are thrilled with the final product and the overall result surpassed our expectations. The level of detail and care Patio Pools put into every aspect—design, installation, and finish—truly shines. If you’re looking for a company to build or renovate a pool, I highly recommend Patio Pools. Their level of detail and care cannot be overstated and turns what can be a difficult process into a seamless and pleasant experience. It’s absolutely worth paying for this level of service—you won’t regret it!

Patio Pool did a fantastic job on our pool. We had an amazing experience and couldn’t be happier with our decision to use their company. It was such a pleasure working with Matt. He was professional, extremely knowledgeable, patient and honest. He was always accessible, stayed in constant communication with us throughout the entire process and still responds quickly to all my questions 7 months after completion. Matt isn’t the only great thing about the company. It was a pleasure working with the entire team. The construction crew was professional and courteous. Paul, Kenny and Matt Sr. addressed all of my questions and concerns during the construction phase, and made sure the site was clean on a daily basis. Robert at the retail store was such a joy to work with. He was very knowledgeable, and brought a smile to my face every time I visited the store. The warranty department provided excellent customer service. We had a few, minor issues after completion and they resolved them in a timely manner. I cannot recommend this company enough! If you are looking for a quality, family owned pool company who is honest, and stands behind their work, look no further. You will not be disappointed with Patio Pools! We absolutely love our backyard oasis!

We just completed a new pool/spa/screen enclosure with Patio Pools. We are very pleased with the final results. Matthew Messer was very professional, informative, and patient throughout the process. He was always available to talk by phone or text message. The quality of the pool/spa/screen enclosure construction is to a very high standard and quality. Our situation was somewhat unique. We had a pre-existing pool that was built in the 1990s. We considered doing a remodel of the pool, but I had seen poor reviews online about the remodels done by Patio Pools. Matthew Messer was very transparent and explained that that is normally the result. It is difficult to repair and update old pools. He encouraged to do a new installation of pool, spa and screen enclosure. He said that we would be much happier with the results. He was right. We’re so happy that we did. Also, being that we were going undergoing a full house remodel, Patio Pools was very accommodating in the timing and finalization of the construction. We truly appreciated that. I can comfortably say that I would highly recommend Patio Pools to anybody that is considering a new build.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Working with Patio Pools has been a horrible experience. Their work was significantly delayed without reasonable excuse despite promises that it would be completed quickly (seven months later we are still trying to have things completed), our pavers sunk in causing my toddler to almost have a serious injury, they left waste in our yard for months on end making our property an eye sore, they destroyed our personal property and refuse to reimburse us for their damage, and their back office has treated us with complete disrespect. Please feel free to reach out to me directly for more information. I do not want any other consumers to fall victim to this company the way we did. **UPDATE** Patio Pools response below is shockingly misleading and quite frankly untrue, particularly considering the comment about payments. Not a single payment was late and every payment was made within 48 hours of any notice or demand (they will text you and expect money immediately). For example, they harassed me for money while I was in the hospital with pregnancy complications and we still paid them immediately to avoid any further delays. With respect to the timeline, we signed our contract on 4/2/24, the pool was not filled with water until 8/9/24 (with the subcontractors admitting there were many mistakes made on our project) and our fence is still not fixed with us now being in January 2025! I beg anyone who wants to be treated properly, please stay far away from this company, particularly their employees Matt and Gina who are mean-spirited and dishonest. I would provide a google link with our documentation of their bad faith, dishonesty and damage to our property, but it too extensive and voluminous. I am more than happy to provide if contacted personally.

Sprayed concrete on my neighbor’s roof and his driveway pavers. I communicated the problem and emailed the estimates to have it fixed and then nothing. Patio pools said the concrete company has insurance and they’ll fix it but never forwarded the emails to the concrete company. I don’t know who the concrete company is - I only dealt with patio pools. Nothing has been done in months and it’s thousands of dollars of damage. Busted the pipe to my well and the drain pipe from my water filter. Zero help to get it fixed. Cut the frontier internet wire twice too. A lot of damage and headaches.

Company Snapshot

Operating out of Carrollwood in the Tampa Bay area, Patio Pools Inc pairs one of the largest permit records in this dataset with an active Florida certified pool/spa contractor license, CPC1458992, held by qualifier Gina L Schrader since 2017 and verified current with the DBPR. The company's own marketing points to roots in the Tampa market going back to 1979.

Specialties & Service Area

The public permit record here runs to a documented set of permits, concentrated in Pasco and Hillsborough counties with additional activity in Hernando County — a footprint that, per the source note attached to this data, is likely a floor rather than a full count since not every county is indexed yet. Recent pulls include a $117,185 in-ground concrete pool on Victarra Circle, a $134,323 project on Romanesque Court in Hernando County, and a $119,367 build on Seagrass Point in Pasco County, putting the typical project value across the visible sample around $92,750. Praise tags from customers most often mention design, crew, and a willingness to recommend the company, with professionalism and quality also showing up regularly.

What Customers Say

Patio Pools carries a 4.1-star average across 157 combined reviews on Google, Yelp, Angi, and Facebook, and the detailed accounts split fairly cleanly along project type: multiple reviewers who worked with salesman Matt on new construction describe polished, on-schedule builds — one crew finishing a 14,000-gallon pool in five weeks, another completing a full pool-spa-enclosure package during back-to-back hurricanes in 2024 — while several of the harshest complaints come from remodel and repair customers, who describe months-long delays, property damage from subcontractors, sinking pavers, and a warranty department that one reviewer said told her a sinking deck was simply "not their problem." Complaint tags for delays/stalling and quality issues appear at meaningful volume alongside the praise.

Bottom Line

Patio Pools brings real scale and a near-full permit completion record to the table, along with a loyal following among new-construction customers who worked with specific, named salespeople. But the recurring complaint pattern here is real and concentrated in remodel and post-completion work, so it's worth asking pointedly about warranty terms and repair timelines if that's the kind of project you're considering.
