It’s been about 6 months since my pill was finished and I’m finally ready to write my review! I spoke with about five different companies when I moved to Florida we have never had a pool and I have spoken with a lot of people and I know that it could be a pretty miserable experience if you go with the wrong company. I narrowed it down to two and finally chose Mandalay. I was able to speak with Duke initially and then Steven and Chris. I immediately knew this was the right fit. I mostly spoke with Steven through the process. And he was always responsive and never made me feel rushed with any of my questions. Even though I switched things quite a few times. I felt guided in the right direction on making choices that I’m not used to making. I’ve learned the process isn’t easy and things can go wrong due to contractors and subs. It was not a perfect experience however the response from Mandalay was. If anything wasn’t being done correctly, they fixed it immediately. One of the most important things in a company is knowing that they have your back if something is going wrong with a subcontractor. We did experience an issue with the tiling in the pool, but Mandalay immediately came out and made sure it was redone correctly. So many companies try to gaslight you and tell you things are fine but Mandalay really stands by their work and if it isn’t done perfectly they definitely have it fixed to their own high standards. This was huge for me. We absolutely love our pool and hot tub. It was finished in about 9 weeks and the warranty and continued contact with mandalay is fantastic. If you want a company that isn’t so big they are too busy and rushed to listen to you, Mandalay is the way to go.
Was scheduled today at 930 am with their sales manager, never showed. Texted him, only to be called a different clients name and told that we were scheduled at 11 am. First impressions go a long way. They will not get our business. Based on reviews below- this sounds like a new trend. This confirmed it for us. We went ahead and just cancelled.
I had a great experience working with Mandalay Pools and Spa for the construction of my pool. From the initial consultation through project completion, the entire process was handled with professionalism, transparency, and attention to detail. The team demonstrated strong expertise, clear communication, and excellent project management. The construction stayed on schedule, and any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly and thoroughly. Even the company owner Duke stopped by to check my overall experience with the process. The quality of workmanship exceeded my expectations, and the final result reflects both craftsmanship and care. I am very satisfied with the outcome and truly appreciate the dedication and reliability shown throughout the project. I would confidently recommend Mandalay Pools and Spa.
We had high hopes after meeting with the sales rep, but our experience went downhill quickly afterward. Communication was poor, no proactive follow up, updates were delayed, and decisions were made without consulting us, causing further delays. They caused damage and didn’t inform us. We reached out a couple times for the matter to be addressed and they said they would send someone, but no one would show. We ultimately had to handle it ourselves. The job site was consistently messy, and nearly two months in, we still have no clear completion date. Very disappointed and would not recommend this company.
We couldn’t be happier with our decision to go with Mandalay Pools & Spas for our inground pool build! From start to finish, the team and entire experience was personable, professional, and customer-focused. When we first started looking to build a pool, we compared Mandalay with two long-established pool companies in the Tampa Bay area – one whose been in business 46 years and one whose been in business 34 years. Don’t be impressed by those numbers when you're shopping. What set Mandalay apart for us was the personal touch. From our first meeting with Derrick, we never felt like “just another customer.” He listened, answered all our questions, worked with us on several changes until we got our pool plan just right ~ and he made sure we understood the process. That same great experience carried through with Stephen and Chris - the project managers, who are knowledgeable and clearly take pride in their work. The final project on our pool and pavered deck is excellent. When we had some minor concerns along the way, they were addressed immediately. Even when we had one small concern after completion and final payment, Duke and his team handled it quickly, reassuring us that everything was solid. That responsiveness gave us real peace of mind through this project. The integrity behind Mandalay Pools is second to none! They aren’t just about building pools—they’re about doing it right. We’re thrilled with the final result and will absolutely recommend Mandalay to friends and family. It’s rare to find a company that combines quality work, excellent communication, and genuine care for their customers, but Mandalay Pools delivers all three. Thank you Duke & team for building our dream pool! — Gene & Patty Cox
I will first say, I have never given a review of a company before, but I felt this was important to share, seeing as they have 4.9 stars and I'm not sure how. The company sounded great. Had Derrick over to do measurements and discuss ideas within a week of my interest request. Before he left, he said he would send me plans a few days later, but I never heard back. I reached out twice, and the second time, he said he would send the plans upon return from his trip. That was 12 days ago. Will not be dealing with them.

Mandalay Pools and Spas of Largo, Pinellas County: license CPC1460451 since 2023, 4.7 on Google from 52 reviews, nineteen finished projects on show.
Mandalay Pools and Spas works from Ulmerton Road in Largo, Pinellas County — the record files them under Tampa, but the licensed address is in Largo and that is the one to believe. Their Florida certified pool contractor license, CPC1460451, has been on record since December 2023 and shows current. The domain dates from August 2023. Under three years of licensed trading, and fifty-two reviews behind it, which is a lot of completed work for the time.
Three service lines: new pool construction, spas and hot tubs, and outdoor living — a builder rather than a maintenance company. Nineteen finished projects are on show, which is a solid gallery and enough to judge the standard of finish before calling anyone. The email address published is a personal one on a consumer provider rather than a company inbox, which for a small operation is ordinary but does mean you are writing to a person rather than an office.
Largo is the licensed base, in mid-Pinellas between Clearwater and St. Petersburg. They publish no pages for individual towns, so their range is a question to ask rather than something the site answers — Pinellas County and across the bay into Hillsborough are the reasonable assumption, and the record's Tampa filing suggests they work both sides. Two numbers are published, one on a Pinellas code and one on a Tampa code, which supports that. The office keeps weekday hours, 9am until 4pm, closed at weekends.
Fifty-two people have reviewed them on Google and the average sits at 4.7 — 0.18 above the 4.52 Florida average, on a count solid enough to be meaningful rather than lucky. Fifty-two reviews inside three years of licensed trading is a healthy rate. Three themes clear the reporting floor: seven reviewers name the crew's professionalism, five the workmanship and three the timekeeping. Workmanship and timekeeping both appearing is the useful pair for a new build — one is what you are left with, the other is what it costs you in patience. Nothing negative recurred: no complaint theme was raised by even two separate customers. Ask to see the oldest pool they have built; at three years in, longevity of finish is the one thing nobody can show you yet.

Yes. Florida certified pool contractor license CPC1460451 is on record in the company's name and shows current, held since December 2023. The license covers construction; insurance is separate and no public register shows it, so ask for a certificate.
Largo, in mid-Pinellas. The record files them under Tampa but the licensed address is on Ulmerton Road in Largo — and they publish numbers on both a Pinellas and a Tampa code, so working both sides of the bay looks likely. Ask which side your job would be run from.
Good, on a solid count. They sit at 4.7 from 52 Google reviews, 0.18 above the 4.52 Florida average. Seven reviewers name the crew's professionalism, five the workmanship and three the timekeeping, and no complaint theme was raised by even two separate customers. Fifty-two reviews in three years is a lot of finished work.
New pool construction, spas and hot tubs, and outdoor living — a builder rather than a maintenance company. Nineteen finished projects are on the site, which is enough to judge decking and waterline finish.
