When it comes to choosing a pool company it was an extremely important decision for us. After having heard so many horror stories, we did our homework. I had three companies come out to give us an estimate. We chose those three after reading google reviews from actual customers. Two of the companies were the big guys, and the third was Tropicana. After working with the companies all 3 had very similar materials, pool equipment, and designs and prices ranged from $90,000-$120,000. Ultimately, we chose Tropicana, not only because they were the best price, but more because, we would be dealing directly with the owners of the company. Throughout the estimating process, the other companies would always say that they had to discuss this with a supervisor, or the owner and get back with me. During the permitting and building process a lot of communication occurs between the homeowner and the pool builder, and I felt like Carl and Vikki were always available for my many questions and concerns. They may not have enjoyed my evening or Sunday phone calls, but I can say they always picked up the phone or called me back shortly after. I was told from the beginning the entire build would take about 6 months. We signed the contract on Sept. 1, the permit wasn't issued until Dec. 9th- due to the city requesting additional permits from the Army corps of engineers. Construction started the week of Dec. 10th, and the pool was filled with water by March 1st. Their plumber "Kyle", is very meticulous and all of the above ground plumbing looks great. Their tile sub was also perfect with the installation and the the final pebble tech looks flawless! These things should not be taken for granted because imperfections would be seen forever, and I am pretty meticulous about the details. After working with Carl and Vikki and getting to know them, I wish them success with Tropicana , and can't thank them enough for their hard work in bringing our dream pool into reality!
My wife and I decided to buy a pool. I’m a google review guy so the first company that came up was Tropicana Pools. I called to set an appointment, Carl came out and to my surprise he was on time which is huge for me it says a lot about the company. Carl came in seemed very relaxed and had a good vibe about him. We talked about what we wanted and he came up with a design. What I liked about Carl is he listened to what we wanted and didn’t push us to what he wanted. Carl was never pushy, he did his job well. To my surprise he was the owner of the company. I was surprised because he’s pretty young. He has been in the business since he was a kid so has been around it a long time. Carl was very patient with us as my wife and I changed a few things. We finally got the pool where we wanted it. Carl gave me a price which was way under our budget which was pretty awesome. I never called any other companies for prices because I liked Carl from the moment I met him. Well, we signed the contract, but couldn’t start the pool till we had other construction done first. Once my GC gave me his end date I asked Carl if they could start June 10th and it did. Literally the pool was dug, steel, and gunite in 7 days. We were a bit shocked how quickly they did all that. Carl originally gave us an approximate timeline of completion which would have been at the end of August. The pool only took 6 weeks which he said was his record for completing a pool. We were pretty excited and incredibly pleased at the results. Carl is an old soul extremely likable, I highly recommend him! Also if you have any questions he communicates very well. He usually answers his phone during work hours, but, if he doesn’t answer he always calls back the same day.
Short review: I would absolutely recommend Tropicana Pools to anyone who asked! Long Review: After hearing horror stories about the pool building process, we were very skeptical to take the plunge to say the least. We gathered quotes from the few companies in the Oviedo/Orlando area that we hadn’t heard bad things about, but after meeting with Carl we decided to go with them. Mostly because we were treated like friends, not just a dollar sign. We signed our contract the last day of March & were swimming in September (6 months, just like he quoted). Now, as with any large construction project, there were hiccups along the way… permitting in Oviedo is a huge pain, hurricane season, delays with materials or crews, etc., but Carl & Vikki were amazing through it all & always made right on everything they had control over- which speaks volumes to who they are as a company in my book! ((& please don’t read that & let it deter you, because if you expect you’re going to build a pool & not have some delays or hiccups then you’re not ready for this venture.)) They always answered my calls/texts, or got back to me ASAP, & they never overpromised or underdelivered. They’re personable, honest, & truly a fun company to work with! We love our pool & are very happy we chose Tropicana as our team : )
We had such a great experience with Tropicana Pools! From the very beginning, Carl and Vikki were amazing to work with. They were always friendly, easy to reach, and kept us updated every step of the way. Our project needed a variance, which could have been a real headache, but they stood by us through the whole process and made sure we never felt alone in it. When construction started, everything moved quickly and efficiently. The crew showed up, got right to work, and before we knew it, the pool was coming together. It was exciting to watch, and the whole process felt smooth and stress-free. Now that it’s finished, the pool looks incredible—I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I’m so glad we chose Tropicana Pools, and I’d recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone thinking about putting in a pool.
They started digging the pool on July and it’s the end of October and haven’t finished it. They come one week 2 days and then disappear for 2 weeks. I call him and he always have an excuse, We had pay always in time. I would not recommend it.
