We had a great experience with Island Way Pools throughout the entire process and are extremely happy with how our pool turned out! Ricky from the service team was fantastic. He handled our pool startup and pool school and was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. He took the time to walk us through how all of the equipment works, how to operate and care for the pool, and answered all of our questions along the way. As new pool owners, there was a lot for us to learn, and he explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and made us feel much more confident taking care of everything moving forward. We really appreciated how thorough and helpful he was throughout the entire process. Brian was also great to work with throughout the entire build. He was always communicative, kept us informed during the different stages of construction, and was especially great at handling any issues that came up along the way. With a project this large, there are a lot of moving pieces, and we really appreciated how he worked to keep everything on schedule as best as possible while making sure things were handled correctly. He was always helpful with our questions and made the entire building process much easier to navigate. Overall, we had a great experience with Island Way Pools from construction through startup and pool school. We absolutely love how our pool turned out and really appreciate everything Ricky, Brian, and the team did to bring it all together. We couldn’t be happier with our new pool!

8/3/26 Start to finish 6 months and still not completed their obligations. We have a beautiful pool with deck drainage issues and still no pool school. The 4ft deck, immediately around the pool, they designed and installed has the wrong pitch towards the house. It constantly floods the 20ft plus covered patio all the way up to the sliding doors. 8/4/26 Reply…Wow, an actual threat! Would love to hear from you and I’m certainly not refusing to cooperate. I have actually reached out several times before contemplating to write this review.. I forgot to even address the downspouts, so thank you for bringing that to my attention. There were a total of three downspouts that were sitting directly out over 1-1/2’ of the 4’ pool decking that your company most certainly did install. Two had to be removed and the other rerouted off of to the side of the 4’ deck, because they were actually causing all of the downspout water to drain more quickly from the pool decking onto the patio, thus flooding the patio even more quickly. Also, we did do the final inspection on our own, and the county has been out here twice. They didn’t sign off on the first visit because the outside outlet we installed didn’t have a cover plate. There didn’t seem to be any other issues, so we just assumed the sign off on the second visit. If there was/is a problem with the county on your end that we aren’t privy too, you certainly could have reached us by phone. It still works, as I’m actually using it now to write the follow up. Looking forward to hearing from someone soon, to apparently getting more than one issue all resolved. 8/10/26 Still haven’t heard from Island Way. We did reach out to Hillsboro County permitting and had two different gentleman come out, who both said they had been here before. One for the alarm, who also checked the electrical outlet, and another for the final. Hopefully this gets updated in the county records. Patiently waiting for Island Way to address the drains, or lack there of, and pool school. Once they reach out, and things are positively rectified, I will be sure to update this review.

I can’t say enough good things about Ricky, our pool technician at Island Ways. He went above and beyond to make sure we understood how to properly operate and care for our pool equipment. He first walked my husband through everything, and then came out a second time specifically to teach me and answer all of my questions—even though it was completely out of his way. Ricky is an excellent teacher, a great listener, reliable, patient, and incredibly helpful. He never made us feel rushed or like we were asking too many questions. He took the time to make sure we actually understood everything, which made us feel so much more confident. It’s clear that Ricky truly cares about his customers and takes pride in his work. I wanted to make sure he gets the recognition and credit he deserves because employees like him make such a difference in the customer experience. Thank you, Ricky, for going above and beyond! Island Ways is lucky to have you!

Skipping all the details.... They completed a project and I have a pool, so I cannot be too negative, but I certainly can't give any more stars. Either our project wasn't profitable enough or they got super busy, because the communication severely dropped off. Joe is a very nice guy but once we asked too many questions, he no longer answered our calls. For our project, the subs controlled the process and timeline, since our PM couldn't provide a schedule or any detailed information. Everything was day of and I had to text (he would no longer have conversations) about what the subs did, what's next, and what problems came up. Sometimes WEEKS went by because there was an issue that WE had to address but wasn't notified until I reached out. I assume I wouldn't get answers until he got answers from the subs. Now, submitted a warranty issue which I was hopeful to get different service...... Called, no answer... Emailed and received a text that it would take two weeks for a tech to come out and address the issue. After two weeks, I called, no anwer. Responded to the text asking for scheduling and they said they are now turning the issue over to the manufacturer and turning it over to another service company. Once again, if I didn't follow up, this would not have been answered. It is now my problem to pursue. They built a pool, so I probably should give them 4 stars considering some of the horror stories out there. I just strongly suggest new buyers do a ton of your own research, do not ask stupid questions, and re-read your contract several times. Also, if your project is under $100k (ours was 96, middle priced quote) expect a lower level of service.

Where do I even start? From the first conversation to the finished product, BRAVO, Island Way Pools! This company truly understands customer service. They answer the phone even on their days off, go above and beyond to make things happen, and (something that seems increasingly rare) they actually remember who you are. Every time someone came to the house, it felt more like having friends stop by than someone simply trying to finish another stop on their route. We ran into an issue with our closing date, and instead of making it our problem, these guys moved things around, worked with us, and made it happen. And they didn’t just squeeze us in; the finished product came out incredible. Our project manager, Brian, was one of the coolest and easiest people I’ve ever dealt with. Not once did he leave us hanging. He always answered, called back, kept us informed, and made sure we knew what was happening throughout the entire process. Then there’s our pool tech, Ricky. The kid is an absolute stud. He knew our equipment like he designed the system himself. He walked me through everything step by step, explained how to properly manage and maintain the pool, and made sure I actually understood it instead of just throwing a bunch of information at me. After his training session, I have zero doubts about handling it myself. He even told me that although our project is officially closed, if I ever have a question or need help, just call. I could honestly keep going. If you’re considering putting in a pool and aren’t sure who to trust with the job, look no further than Island Way Pools. From beginning to end, these guys absolutely delivered. Thank you to the entire crew for making this experience such a good one. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Cheers! 🍻 -Jeff

Quick Quote

About Islandway Pools, LLC

Islandway Pools of Clearwater: 177 reviews, no recurring complaint, and waterfront work on the Pinellas coast. FloridaPoolz.

Who they are

Islandway Pools works out of Clearwater in Pinellas County, holding Florida pool contractor license CPC1459475, current since June 2020. Their domain was registered a few months earlier the same year, so license and business started together. They make no superlative or award claims anywhere on their site, which is rare and leaves the record to speak for itself.

What they build

New pool construction, renovation, servicing, spas, water features, screen enclosures and outdoor living work, with commercial pools alongside residential. Their waterfront page was revised in August 2026 — waterfront pool work on the Pinellas coast has its own engineering and permitting demands, so a builder who writes about it specifically is worth noting if that is your site.

What their reviews say

4.7 from 177 Google reviews, above the Florida pool builder average of 4.52 on a count large enough that the figure describes the company rather than a run of jobs. Seven customers praised professionalism independently, four the build quality, four the communication and three their keeping to schedule. No complaint theme was raised by two or more people across 177 accounts.

Worth asking about

Little shows against them. Six years of trading with 177 reviews and no recurring complaint is a solid, unremarkable record in the best sense. If your property is on the water, ask specifically how many waterfront pools they have built and what the seawall and setback situation meant for those jobs. Otherwise the ordinary questions apply: who runs your build, and two recent addresses in Pinellas you can look at.
