We were absolutely thrilled with the outcome of our pool resurfacing and new tile. And added colorful lights. And got a new Handrail. Beautiful job done. Kim and Rick are exceptional people and do the work almost all themselves, and make sure it is done in a timely manner as well. I own a small business myself and I know how difficult it can be to please people, but for your future pool needs don’t hesitate to hire Southern Comfort Pools!

★☆☆☆☆ Google · May 7, 2026

We hired them to replace the Masonite on our pool. A couple times they said they would show up, but we didn't see them until a day or two later. They left a noticeable white spot on the top step. They said they would come look at it, but never bothered to show up, I guess since they've already been paid for the job.

★☆☆☆☆ Google · October 25, 2025

Slow service, leave a mess, ruin grass, decking paint in pool and on tile, job not completed. Very disappointing. The last response I got from one of the owners was, i'm sorry, but still no date to come out.And correct the problems or bring the stone that they were supposed to

About Southern Comfort Pools Inc

Learn everything about Southern Comfort Pools of Ocala — license CPC1456564 held since 2003, and a split review record! FloridaPoolz.

Who they are

Southern Comfort Pools works out of Ocala, Marion County, on Florida pool contractor license CPC1456564 — current since January 2003, twenty-three years on the state's register. Their licensed address is a PO box, so ask where the yard is. The domain dates from 2021. They build new pools and handle renovation, spas, water features and outdoor living. 24 project photographs are published.

What the reviews say

Google has them at 2.3 from 3 reviews, and both halves of that need saying carefully. Three reviews is not a rating: it cannot be compared with the Florida average of 4.52 across 346 builders, and two unhappy customers produce this number for almost any small firm.

What gives the three weight is that the two critical accounts describe the same shape of problem, in detail. One customer hired them to replace the Masonite on their pool and describes being told several times that the crew would come, then not seeing them until a day or two later. The other lists slow service, mess left behind, ruined grass, decking paint in the pool and on the tile, and a job not completed — and says the last response they got from the company was the end of it.

The third review is warm and specific: a resurfacing with new tile and colourful lights that the customer was thrilled with. So the record is genuinely split, on a sample far too small to say which is typical.

What the two complaints have in common is finishing and tidying rather than the pool itself — turning up when promised, cleaning up, and closing the job out.

What they build

New pool construction, renovation, spas and hot tubs, water features and outdoor living, from Ocala across Marion County. They keep no separate town pages.

Before you sign

Ask for four or five references rather than the usual two — on a three-review record with two detailed complaints, that is the only way to find out which of the two stories is the normal one. Get a written snagging list and hold a retention until it is signed off, since not completing the job appears in both complaints. Agree protection for grass and decking in the scope, and who makes good on damage. Confirm visit dates the day before. The license has run since 2003; ask for the insurance certificate separately.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Is Southern Comfort Pools licensed in Florida?

Yes. Florida pool contractor license CPC1456564 has been current since January 2003 — twenty-three years. Their licensed address is a PO box, so ask where the yard is. Ask for the insurance certificate separately.

How bad is a 2.3 rating?

On three reviews it is not a rating at all — two unhappy customers produce that number for almost any small firm, and it cannot be compared with the 4.52 Florida average across 346 builders. What gives it weight is that both critical accounts describe the same shape of problem in detail.

What do the complaints say?

One describes being told several times that the crew would come and not seeing them until a day or two later. The other lists slow service, mess left behind, ruined grass, decking paint in the pool and on the tile, and a job not completed. Both are about finishing and tidying rather than the pool itself.

Is there a good review?

Yes — a resurfacing with new tile and lights that the customer was thrilled with. The record is genuinely split, and three reviews is far too few to say which experience is typical.

What should I do about that?

Ask for four or five references rather than two, get a written snagging list with a retention held until sign-off, and agree in the scope who protects and makes good on grass and decking.
