Called around for pool resurfacing quotes and Claudio came by personally and gave me the best quote, so I proceeded with Tchibum Pools and wasn't disappointed. We picked a date and time and his people showed up and drained pool then proceeded to clear surface and prep surface and replaced the mar-site. He said it would take about a week total but we had some rain delays that affected total completion. But everything was completed and he even had one of his pool guys come out weekly to check water balance. They answered all questions quickly and no complaints at this time. This was completed in March 2026.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Tchibum Pool Builders/ GV Pools to understand exactly what they are signing up for. This has been one of the most poorly managed construction projects I have ever experienced. We signed our pool contract in February 2026. Communication quickly became a problem. We were frequently ghosted, information from the office was inconsistent, and at one point they attempted to have us sign a change-of-contractor document due to the merger of the two companies without first properly amending our contract. After pushing back, the contract was eventually amended. They finally began digging in June, and from that point forward it felt like I had to become the project manager myself. Crews routinely did not show up when we were told they would. Scheduling was hit or miss, and communication remained extremely poor. We had no weather nor inspector issues so fully on their mismanagement. After the fiberglass pool was delivered and placed, it was left sitting while heavy rain and erosion occurred around the excavation. Our contract had a completion deadline, yet they had not even passed the first inspection when the date was coming up. I ultimately had to retain an attorney and send a demand for performance to get the project moving. Construction debris was also left behind, and I had to pay someone separately to remove it. $500 After the pavers were installed, equipment was brought back onto the property to remove excess dirt. In the process, approximately a 2-foot by 15-foot section of newly installed pavers was damaged and broken. Our contract also included irrigation relocation, which was never completed. They didn’t cap off the irrigation when they dug, but decided to turn the sprinklers on and said oh look it’s working. It included a pool heater, which was never installed. Electrical work needed for the waterfall was also not completed. The “waterfall” itself is another issue. What was constructed is essentially a box made from floor pavers that was filled with concrete, with a pipe sticking out of it. There is currently no functioning waterfall. With the involvement of my attorney, I eventually negotiated the heater and irrigation items out of the contract because they had not been completed. What was especially frustrating is that after all of this, the company sent an email stating that the project was complete and demanded final payment. It is not complete. The damaged pavers remain. There is still no functioning waterfall, only the exposed pipe. In addition, pavers are now sinking/caving in around the skimmer and hydrojet plumbing areas, which raises concerns about what may be happening underneath them. I have made it clear that I will not make final payment until the contracted work that remains is properly completed and the defects are corrected. Another issue worth mentioning: subcontractors associated with the project have contacted us directly regarding payment because they said they had not been paid by the pool company. As a homeowner, that is not something I should be dealing with. I am sharing this because I wish I had known what this experience would be like before signing the contract. If you choose to use this company, document everything, save every email and text, understand your contract, photograph the work throughout the project, and be prepared to stay heavily involved. The number of people in similar or worse situations that have reached out to me after I provided comments on the GV pools social media is eye opening. They later removed the ability to comment on their posts. In my experience, you essentially have to be your own project manager. Good luck. It has been a struggle from beginning to end.

Salesman was late not once not twice not 3 times but 4 times. After his visit was told I’d get a written estimate next day. It’s now been 6 days and still no estimate or follow up. He did throw $15,000 out there on his third reschedule without even looking at it or knowing the dimensions. Is America great again yet?

Claudio and his team were exceptional. Everything was seamless; from coming out to provide the estimate, to picking out materials, to the team coming out and completing the work timely and handling our backyard with care. They were prompt, professional and even sacrificed and work on the holiday to keep to out time-line. They did amazing work and had exceptional pricing. After 3 estimates from different companies, we chose Tchibum Pools for our pool resurfacing project in St. Augustine. The difference in quality is obvious - it's been two years and still looks brand new. They know what they're doing!
