If you are in the market for a pool, I strongly urge you to contact Tropical. We talked to several pool companies and Tropical was by far the most reasonable and there were no high-pressure sales tactics. It was the most stress-free project my husband and I have ever experienced!! (We had a pool built at our previous house by another builder and that was a nightmare.) The whole process with Tropical was super easy and every person we encountered was professional and courteous. Regan, the designer, was a breeze to deal with and Ronnie was always available with clear and concise responses to any questions we had. Their teams showed up when Ronnie said they would, they were respectful of our property and every part of the build passed inspection the first time. And after the build, Christian showed up weekly to make sure everything was running properly. My only regret is that the pictures do not do the pool justice. To me, it is perfection, it is exquisite, it is a masterpiece. Special thanks to the tile guys that spent so much time perfecting the spa tiles. I know we had a rather difficult ask with that corner and it looks absolutely amazing! Thank you to Regan, Ronnie, Christian and everyone at Tropical! It was an absolute pleasure working with all of you!
Spent 2.5 months doing quoting and to get to a contract with Tropical. They then provide a handwritten contract to which I expressed concern. Then after sending them back questions for clarification on what was in the contract and asking for things they previously stated in email to be put in the contract, they told me they don't feel comfortable proceeding with the project. So basically they don't feel comfortable putting the things they said to get the sale such as warranties they told me about and their responsibilities for damages outside of their defined access area into a legally enforceable document. Totally unethical and a waste of my time. Should have just listened to their poor reviews on Google from people who actually used them. Glad I dodged that bullet since they seem like a bunch of liars.
We met with 9 pool companies over the course of several months. Regan was the only salesperson to actually listen to us and provide a rendering of what we asked for without missing anything the first time. Our space was tight, but we were able to execute the way we wanted. He was patient, honest, easy to work with and not pushy. During construction we ran into some obstacles from the county inspectors and a widely used subcontractor. Curtis was always available to take my calls and texts both during and after hours. Our experience wasn't flawless (but really, if you've ever built anything....is it ever? ;)) but the professionalism and commitment to making things right is ultimately what matters most, and Curtis did just that. We are happy with our finished product and would choose Tropical Pools and Pavers again. Also, Greg the tile guy is the best!
Curtis, Regan, Laura and Gary were great to work with. Curtis, was extremely communicative during every aspect of the job and kept me informed with every step in the process. I could trust that the work would be completed when he said and he was flexible with his crew to accommodate a neighboring property’s request. The pool turned out incredible and was completed much quicker than I anticipated. Regan designed a beautiful pool and explained the process well from the beginning. Laura was helpful organizing inspections and keeping me up to date with the paperwork side of the process. Gary was such a great teacher during “pool school” and got the pool up and ready in no time. He made himself available for follow-up questions as well. Thank you to the entire team - each person was great at every step of the process.
Best decision we ever made! We met with multiple different companies in the area, and after Regan came to the house for a consult, we knew we wanted to move forward with Tropical Pools and Pavers. He was a pleasure to work with, communication about the project along the way was great, and all of the guys that came to the house worked very hard and were professional. Permitting with the city took about 4-6 weeks and once that was issued, construction start to finish was exactly 2 months. We will recommend this company to everyone. Beautiful pool, thank you Regan and Curtis for the wonderful experience. We would absolutely go with them again!
We are loving the pool Tropical Pools installed for us in 2019. ----- We just got our new pool filled (2019) and we love everything about it - the pool finish and quality, the water feature, the pavers, the cage. Tropical Pools has been fabulous in every way throughout the process from great attention to the design and accommodating our change requests to the excellent attitudes and workmanship of literally dozens of specialized workers. We greatly appreciate each and every one of them and we appreciate the seamless coordination that pulled the project together. If you are considering purchasing a new pool, understand that it is a multi-month, complex, and expensive project. We are VERY happy that we chose Tropical as they made that process virtually hassle-free and relatively affordable.

Tropical Pools and Pavers works from Florida Avenue in Clearwater, Pinellas County, on Florida pool contractor license CPC057338 — current since October 2001. Twenty-five unbroken years on the state's register. Their domain dates from 2010 and the site was updated in 2026. They build new pools and handle renovation, screen enclosures, spas, water features and outdoor living, with pavers alongside. 21 project photographs are published.
Google has them at 4.6 from 63 reviews — a little above the Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders on this directory, on a solid record. Ten reviewers name their professionalism and five the quality of the build. Professionalism named by ten people out of sixty-three is a strong signal of consistency rather than a lucky run. The fullest positive account comes from a customer who spoke to several pool companies before choosing them and urges others to do the same.
One critical review is worth reading in full before you commit, because it is about paperwork rather than workmanship. The customer describes two and a half months of quoting, and then being handed a handwritten contract, which they raised concerns about. On a pool build, the contract is the only thing standing between you and an argument, and a handwritten one is a bad start whatever the intention behind it.
New pool construction, renovation, screen enclosures, spas and hot tubs, water features, outdoor living and paving, from Clearwater across Pinellas. They keep no separate town pages, so there is no published service-area list beyond the Clearwater base.
Insist on a typed contract with the scope, the exclusions, the payment stages and a completion date. That is ordinary advice everywhere and a specific one here: the single complaint on their record is a handwritten contract offered after ten weeks of quoting. If a written version is slow to arrive, treat that as information. Beyond the paperwork the record is good — twenty-five years of licensing and ten separate people naming their professionalism. Ask for the insurance certificate, which Florida does not publish.

Answered from this record — not by the business.
Yes. Florida pool contractor license CPC057338 has been current since October 2001 — twenty-five years. Ask for the insurance certificate separately; Florida publishes nothing that would confirm cover.
4.6 from 63 Google reviews, against a Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders on this directory. Slightly above the middle, on a solid record.
A customer describes two and a half months of quoting followed by a handwritten contract, which they raised concerns about. It is about paperwork rather than the quality of the work — but on a pool build the contract is the only protection you have.
A typed contract naming the scope, the exclusions, the payment stages and a completion date. If it is slow to arrive, that is information in itself.
