The best and the worst from each platform. Both, always.
Fathom Pools just completed construction of my spa and I couldn't' be more pleased with the results as well as the entire process. I was initially concerned because this was being added to my already constructed pool and I had worries about breaching the pool wall. Next, the area was very tight which meant construction had to all be done by hand i.e no backhoe or any mechanized equipment. A tremendous amount of dirt and pavers which were being replaced with travertine had to be wheelbarrowed. I was also adding all new pool/spa equipment and converting to smart technology. The owner, Grove Bolt, a local native has been building pools for 30 years and he knows his stuff and so do his guys. Paul did all the spa construction single handedly and he is the hardest working man I think I've ever met. I had gotten 2 or 3 other bids but it was clear to me that Grove was the most knowledgeable, never tried to upsell me and was very fair on price. Communication was great and no detail was overlooked.
I was weary of going with a small company/one man show and every fear was realized throughout this project. Grove did not build my pool as he said would be the case. Instead I got a handyman who had to be instructed every step of the way over the phone because Grove had a "more important job" to personally attend to. They ordered the wrong pavers and threatened further delays if corrected. They attempted to overcharge us above contractual allowances. They did not clean up afterwards and we were left with concrete and debris strung along our side yard along with fence panels and a gate that was not reinstalled. To top it all off, less than 2 years later, our new pool is leaking and Grove refuses to offer any assistance, not even showing up to look at the issue as agreed and instead verbally attacking my wife for daring to reach out. BEWARE!!!!!!
We had an exceptional experience with Fathom Pools. From start to finish, the owner was a fantastic communicator—keeping us informed and involved every step of the way, which was especially important since we were managing this project from out of town. He went above and beyond to make the process seamless and stress-free. My husband is a contractor in another state specializing in high-end remodels, and even he was thoroughly impressed—not only by the quality of Fathom Pools' work but also by their professionalism and strong work ethic. Everything was done with care, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship. If you're looking for a dependable, skilled, and trustworthy pool company, look no further. Fathom Pools delivers excellence. We couldn't be happier with the results!
My mother recommended Fathom Pools to me when I needed to do a pool renovation. She had used Fathom Pools to build her pool 25 years ago and was extremely satisfied with their work. I contacted them to do my renovation and I couldn't be happier with the incredible job they did for me. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless, professional and exceeded all expectations. The team was punctual, courteous and extremely knowledgeable, walking me through every step and making thoughtful recommendations that truly elevated the final result. They completely transformed my outdated pool with beautiful tile and marcite finish that looks fantastic. Their attention to detail and craftmanship were outstanding. They kept the worksite clean, stuck to the timeline, and maintained great communication throughout. If you are looking for a pool contractor who delivers top-quality work and treats your project like their own, look no further. I highly recommend Fathom Pools, they turned my vision into a reality and made the whole experience enjoyable and stress free.

Fathom Pools & Services of Punta Gorda: Florida licensed since 2011, 4.9 from 34 Google reviews, a small operation whose owner works the jobs himself.
Fathom Pools & Services works out of Punta Gorda and holds Florida contractor license CPC1458190, current since October 2011 — fifteen years. It is a small operation, and their reviews are unusually direct about that: the owner is described as being in constant contact and on the job site himself. That is the profile's real strength and, in one account, its weakness, so it is worth understanding before anything else.
New pool construction, renovation, repairs, spas, water features, outdoor living and cage work. Repeat business shows up here, which is rare and hard to fake: one customer had a pool built about six years ago, bought another house, and came back to have a second one built. Another describes a spa added to an existing pool and deck — retrofit work that is fiddlier than building from scratch. One account specifically credits them with navigating both county and city requirements, which is the part of a build most owners never see.
Punta Gorda, Charlotte County and the surrounding southwest coast. They publish no separate pages for individual towns, so there is nothing documenting the reach — confirm your own address. They publish only four usable photographs, so ask to see finished work directly rather than judging it from the site.
Google has them at 4.9 from 34 reviews — well above the 4.52 average across Florida's builders, and 34 reviews is a solid enough base for that to carry real weight. The praise is both broad and specific: twelve customers name their professionalism, eight the quality of the build and three the design help, with the recurring detail being the owner's own presence on site and what several describe as good aftercare. There is one negative account, and it is the mirror image of everything above rather than a contradiction of it. A customer says they were wary of hiring a small, one-man operation and that every fear was realised — that the owner did not build the pool himself as they had understood he would, and that the work was carried out by someone they describe as a handyman. Read the two sides together and the picture is coherent: this is a small company whose owner being personally involved is what almost everyone values, and the one dissatisfied customer is the one for whom that involvement did not materialise. That points at a single question worth settling before you sign, and it is an easy one: ask who specifically will be on your site, on which days, and who does the shell, the tile and the equipment. Get the answer in writing. On a 4.9 from 34 that is a five-minute conversation, not a warning.

Who specifically will be on your site and on which days, and who does the shell, the tile and the equipment. Get it in writing. That single question is what separates the many happy customers here from the one who was not.
