Fox Pools came to us highly recommended. And, from the first meeting with our salesman, Bobby, we knew that we were in good hands. He was extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer questions and give some much needed guidance and advice. Everyone that came to the house was hard working and very pleasant. The men who put down the new travertine had such a great attention to detail. Broderick worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect! It’s easy to see that these people take pride in their work. Eddie, the service manager was always available for questions and over seeing the work being done. For the final walkthrough, Lawrence the general manager along with Eddie, found a couple of tiny places that needed caulk and the guys were out the next day. My pool and lanai look gorgeous and I couldn’t be more pleased. I wish I had done it ten years ago.

Spoke with Judy left our name and number for an estimate and a date here we are three days later still waiting. This is already a red flag for me plus the negative reviews here on yelp. I'll take my business and my money elsewhere.

We had a hard time finding a quality pool company to resurface our pool. Fox Pools did a fantastic job. We had to wait a few months to start, but they made us aware of the delay up front. New PebbleTec, tile, pool coping, pool filter and pump. We also converted the spa into a sunshelf. Could not be happier. It took a while as all the subcontractors are busy. We understood that. There was some concrete spray from the gunite on our pool cage. Brandon had his team come back scrub the screen and cleaned it all up. Many pool companies we spoke to wanted to tear out the pool and build a new one with a corresponding price tag. Fox was happy to do as we asked. We checked for lawsuits, contractor's license, etc. and Fox Pools came up clean. We did our homework. We highly recommend Fox Pools.

I purchased a home in Sarasota two years ago. The home was built in 2006 but the pool was installed in 2016 about three or four months before we closed. The previous owners/investors added this feature. A month ago the pool developed a leak. I contacted the contractor, Fox Pools, and spoke with the owner Ed. He was very pleasant and seemed concerned. He even came out to check the pool. After a few weeks, continually adding water was no longer an option. I called a leak detection company. They found a leak at the main wall drain, it was not sealed properly when constructed. They repaired the leak - total cost $275.00. I called Fox and spoke with Ed again to give him the news. He was glad to hear that the leak was uncovered. Now from the beginning I never had an expectation from Fox. The error was clearly due to an oversight in workmanship. Given the very young age of the pool and cause, one would hope that the contractor would step up and at least offer to split the cost of the repair if not cover the entire cost. Disappointingly so it did not happen.

We chose Fox Pools after interviewing several companies. Merle, their designer, was friendly, patient, and open to our ideas. He was able to create the pool of our dreams. We built a free-form pool (24x24 with water features, paver lanai, and a cage. Fox Pools included many of the features that others consider upgrades; Salt Generator, Stainless Steel Cage hardware, and Pentair Intelliconnect smart system. We also did a two-tone pebble tech finish that turned out awesome. While the construction process was largely done by sub-contractors, the subs that Fox Pools use are excellent. I was able to keep in touch with Ed (owner) and Brandon (Ed's son, Project Manager) via e-mail; they responded within a day to each of my e-mails. The project took 3 months from when they broke ground. We did have some small concerns, but all problems were addressed to our satisfaction. With a project this large there always going to be some small details that need to be addressed. We though the "Pool School" was going to be a little more formal; it included a pole, a net, and a test kit and no formal instruction. I cleaned pools years ago so I wasn't put out by this. Overall; I would highly recommend Fox Pools for your new pool construction. Ed, Brandon, and Merle are professional, and build a quality pool at a competitive prices.

I recently hired Fox Pools to service my pool. A few weeks into the service I asked if they could put in a figure 4 handrail for me. I had researched the handrails and I knew they were under $200. Fox Pools came back to me and said they wanted $750 to install a hand rail. This didn't sound right so I called two other respected pool companies and each quoted me the same amount $475. So I went back to Fox pools and asked for a detailed estimate itemizing the $750 so I could see what the difference was. They never got back to me with one. Instead, when pressed, they just said there was a lot of expense, such as echelons being $100 each. Amazon says they are $20.72 for a pair of 2. The following week my pool service did not sweep my pool. Asked why, and was told that the guy that did it wasn't in the office that day and they would get back to me. They didn't. I called them the following week and again requested a detailed quote on the handrail and an answer as to why my pool wasn't swept clean. Instead of answers to the above, I got an email saying they have cancelled my pool service because they couldn't do it for $80 a month, which we had agreed upon and which they had provided up to this point. I had no problem finding other pool services that agreed to do my pool for $80. My personal opinion is that, because of the hand rail estimate, they wanted to get rid of me.

About Fox Pools Inc

Fox Pools of Sarasota: license CPC1459834 since 2022, 4.8 from 61 Google reviews and 3.6 from nine on Yelp, 4.65 across 70 against a 4.52 state average.

Who they are

Fox Pools works out of Sarasota, from Interstate Court in Sarasota County. The domain is a decade older, registered in May 2012 and archived from that June, so the business predates this license by some years. They describe the company as family-owned, which no public register settles either way.

What they build

Eight service lines, the full spread: new pool construction, renovation, repairs, weekly service, spas and hot tubs, screen enclosures, water features and outdoor living. Screen enclosures matter on this coast, where they are half of what an outdoor space needs. Twenty-four finished projects are on show, a proper gallery and enough to judge the standard of finish by eye before calling anyone.

Where they work

Sarasota is the licensed base, and they publish pages for twelve places across the two counties — Anna Maria, Bradenton, Ellenton, Holmes Beach, Lakewood Ranch, Longboat Key, Myakka City, Nokomis, Osprey, Palmetto, Sarasota and Venice. Those pages are near-copies of one another rather than anything written about the individual towns, so read the list as where they will travel rather than as evidence of work done in each — and note the practical consequence, which is that a homeowner searching for a pool builder in Osprey or Nokomis is unlikely to find them that way. Two local numbers and one email address are published, and the office keeps weekday hours, 9am until 5pm, closing an hour earlier on Friday.

What the record shows

The two platforms disagree, and the size of each tells you which to weight. Sixty-one people have reviewed them on Google at 4.8, comfortably above the 4.52 Florida average and on a count solid enough to mean something: six reviewers name the crew's professionalism and four the workmanship, and nothing negative recurred at all — no complaint theme was raised by even two separate customers. Yelp is harsher at 3.6, but from nine reviews, and nine is too few to establish a pattern or to outweigh sixty-one. Taken together the two average 4.65 across seventy reviews, which is 0.13 above the state figure. The fair reading is a well-regarded builder with a small cluster of less happy customers on the quieter platform. Read the Yelp nine before you sign — they are quick, and on a job this size the exceptions are worth knowing.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Is Fox Pools licensed?

Yes. Florida certified pool contractor license CPC1459834 is on record in the company's name and shows current, held since March 2022. The license covers construction; insurance is separate and no public register shows it, so ask for a certificate before anyone digs.

How good are their reviews, really?

Good on Google, weaker on Yelp, and the counts settle it. Google sits at 4.8 from 61 reviews; Yelp at 3.6 from nine. Across both that averages 4.65 from 70 reviews, 0.13 above the 4.52 Florida average. Six reviewers name the crew's professionalism and four the workmanship, and no complaint theme reached even two separate customers. Nine reviews cannot outweigh sixty-one, but they are worth reading.

Which areas do they cover?

Sarasota and Manatee counties. They publish pages for Anna Maria, Bradenton, Ellenton, Holmes Beach, Lakewood Ranch, Longboat Key, Myakka City, Nokomis, Osprey, Palmetto, Sarasota and Venice — but those pages are near-copies of one another, so treat the list as where they will travel rather than proof of jobs in each.

How long have they been trading?

The license dates from March 2022, and the domain from May 2012 — so the business is around a decade older than this particular license. Licenses get re-issued, transferred and replaced for plenty of innocent reasons; it is a fair thing to ask them to explain.

What do they build, and when can I reach them?

New pool construction, renovation, repairs, weekly service, spas and hot tubs, screen enclosures, water features and outdoor living. Monday to Thursday 9am until 5pm and Friday until 4pm, on two published local numbers and one email address, with 24 finished projects to look through.
