Wow! Where do I start - Holland Pools was AMAZING to work with. We started our pool building journey in 2020. when we met Kim Nicholson who provided us with an amazing design. We decided to put the project on hold and did not start again until 2023. In 2023, we contacted Kim to get an updated proposal. We also met with three other companies to compare pricing. Holland's pricing was fair and competitive and we selected them based on Kim's professionalism and responsiveness. Kim was patient with us as we made adjustments, always quickly providing updated drawings and estimates. On March 31 we signed a contract and paid our deposit. The permitting process felt like it took forever but in reality, it was fully approved and in-hand on May 11 which was right on track for what my research on Lake County told me to expect. While I was a bit antsy during the process, Jennifer in Holland's Permitting Office was communicative and responsive throughout the process - reassuring me that everything was on schedule and providing real-time updates. Around this time I met Tyler, my site supervisor. Tyler was AMAZING. He met with me and provided an overview of the timeline. Tyler was ON IT throughout the project. He communicated with me on nearly a daily basis throughout the project and always knew what was happening, where the hangups were coming from, and had a plan of action to keep the project moving. Our sod scrape was conducted on May15...the dig framing was constructed on May 16...The dig was completed on May 24....Rebar and plumbing was installed on May 26...The gunite was shot on May 31...Equipment and plumbing was run on Jun 14....the screen (contracted separately from Holland) was stood on July 22...the finish was done on on July 24...Acid Wash and fill on July 25 and pool start up on July 26...the ENTIRE PROJECT, from contract signature to swim was completed in 16 weeks! When we hit an unexpected challenge during the construction process (discovery of an underground obstacle that was unanticipated), Tyler quickly engaged Scott, the General Manager, who came and met with me as soon as I was back in town. After a quick site walk, Scott and Tyler worked with me to find a solution and quickly facilitated the process to amend the construction plan. Kim quickly sent me updated drawings and we were able to relocated the pump equipment without any major delays to the project. I'm a little late in posting this review but I'm glad I waited because now, three months after construction was completely finished, I have a true sense of what was built. The quality is outstanding and even more impressive - Holland is still responsive, even now that the final check has cleared. I have contacted Danielle in the warranty department twice in the last three months - once for some bubbles that I was seeing in my jets and again last week for a No Flow error on my heat pump. On both occasions, she quickly scheduled Brad to come out and troubleshoot! I'm happy to share that both concerns were minor, regular maintenance adjustments. Brad is just as delightful as the rest of the Holland staff. He is knowledgable and personable - best of all, he is patient and happy to teach me what he is doing so I am able to resolve the issues going forward. In my opinion, Holland truly stands behind their product! Of course, in any scenario, there were some things that I didn't love...I felt that the pool company that Holland contracts with to perform the first month of maintenance was....average at best. The owner came out for our "Pool School" - he was nice and answered all of our questions but after that they were just another pool company in my opinion. Came once a week and went through the motions. There was nothing special and the techs aren't there to really teach you anything - just to do it and try to earn your business. All in all - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOLLAND...KIM, TYLER, SCOTT, JENNIFER, DANIELLE, BRAD - you are all awesome! Thank you for such a great experience!
Our experience with Holland was fantastic! We were complete novices when it came to knowing about pools or what we wanted and they guided us along each step of the way. The finished project was amazing and has complete changed the way our family enjoys our backyard! We started our design journey with Steve who was a pleasure to work with. He told us which options made sense and which didn't and created detailed 3D renders which helped us decide on a layout. At no point did I get the sense he was trying to upsell on options which made it easy to trust his advice. He was also very patient as we iterated on the pool design. Brad our site supervisor was also amazing to work with. From our kickoff meeting where he outlined each step of the build we had clarity on what was happening each week. We also hit the timelines he outlined and actually finished our build a couple of weeks early! Other people who also had pools built were surprised at how quickly things got done! Brad was alongside us each step of the way, answering questions, providing advice, and generally taking care of any questions we had. I'm going to add a bit of reality to this post as well for anyone out there thinking of building: 1. Things WILL go wrong along the way. 2. Unexpected issues WILL crop up. 3. Some things WILL get damaged around the property. 4. Expect your yard and accessway to be a waste land through the process. The above will happen regardless of the pool company you choose. What really matters is the following: 1. How knowledgeable is your sales person? Do they have your interests in mind or are they just trying to move on to the next sale? 2. How reputable and reliable are the subcontractors the company uses? 3. How knowledgeable and responsive is your site supervisor (the company rep who interfaces with all the sub contractors)? Are they able to foresee issues and mitigate them before they happen? 4. How reputable is the pool company itself? Have they been in business a long time or will they go out of business in the middle of your pool build and leave you with a hole in the ground? 5. How committed are they to standing by the work done by their subcontractors and making things right when issues invariably arise? As far as Holland is concerned I can say they met all the criteria above.
Our experience with Holland was very easy. We started with Marshall as our consultant. He was patient with us as it took us 6 months to decide on the final look. He worked his magic to fit all of our wants into our budget. He made some great suggestions that turned out great in the end. Scott went through the contract to make sure we understood everything before the start of construction. Scott was very helpful in the transition to construction. Brad was out project manager. He kept us in the loop step by step through the construction process. There were changes that we wanted and Brad worked with the crew to make us happy. Working with Brad was like dealing with a friend... easy and chill. We are very picky and particular, and Brad addressed all the fine details to make us happy. We shopped several other pool builders in Orlando and their staff was not as friendly and accommodating as Holland Pools. In the end everyone at Holland (mainly Brad and Marshall) did a fantastic job. The pool turned out better than we expected. Brad even reached out months after the pool was completed to check in. I would recommend Holland Pool to anyone with confidence. Update to my review. The building process was great. The post build was not so much. I've been trying to reach someone at Holland Pool for a few weeks regarding stains on the finish. My pool was completed in February. I've text, emailed, and even some to the warranty repair woman. No one seems to care since they are paid in full. I'm hoping this review will get the appropriate attention to get my issue fixed. UPDATE 8/2025... Danielle and Richard reached out in late June and started working on our issue. Richard came out with the company that did the surface and had them refinish the entire pool surface. Final product was excellent and to our satisfaction. Thanks Richard.
I started this process with Holland Pools in December 2023. My sales rep was Marshall Weiner. If you are lucky enough to get to meet him, you are in for a treat. He was amazing. He understood that I had never done a project like this before. I had no idea what to expect. He listened to my budget concerns, made recommendations and held my hand the entire step of the way. He did multiple digital designs as I kept changing my mind. He was patient and pleasant. He is the reason we went with Holland Pool. I have actually referred him to my neighbors. All other companies just did not meet our initial expectations. I signed the contract in April 2024. At that time, Marshall transferred me to my Super, Scott Kinder. Scott handled the scheduling of the construction perfectly. He emailed, text, and called to keep me in the loop on who was coming and what time. Scott also let me know if there was a work delay, material delay, or weather delay. I have never had such a smooth construction project. The pool was completed in July (3 months later). AMAZING! I have been working with customer service and my pool tech is Ashley. All is I can say, I hope you get this same team of people because my experience has been great. I waited to write this review because I wanted to go through the full cycle and 1 year of service mark. I wanted to be able to give my honest review of everyone I have worked with. If you decide to use Holland Pools, you will not be disappointed. Did I mention that all of this was completed via phone, text, email, zoom, or at my home? Very convenient for me!
STAY AWAY! The management of this company Illustrates factual, and proven GROSS NEGLECT, and behavior that is at best described as deceptive: manipulative, unethical, and untruthful, irrespective of the poor quality and service related to the pool over the past 11 months. This management team takes or accepts no responsibility for their "bad deeds" in fact: 100% of the time in our 11 months "THEY BLAME" others for their overt GROSS NEGLECT and "problems" including their own vendors and me, the homeowner. By way of background: we built a new home, with a pool/spa designed & build by Holland Pools at a cost of approx. $113, 000 in August of 2021. In just 11 months, below I have outlined just 3 "major quality issues" we have experienced: The below illustrates Holland's proven GROSS NEGLECT, BLAME oriented and deceptive behavior: 1. The pool has had a leak for over 10 months, after 3 evaluations by "their" leak detection company, that found no leaks: I, the homeowner had to finally show them where the leak was (I used a simply process of elimination to identify the location). Finally another leak detection group found the leak exactly where I had identified it. On the previous 2 leak detection attempts Holland management BLAMED their leak detection company. During this 10 months Holland refused to believe the pool has a leak despite the fact that I showed them "water usage" documentation from a civil engineer! 2. The pool was designed with a heater to heat the pool and spa during the cold season (cost $12,000) When the weather turned colder (3 months after delivery of the pool) the homeowners attempts to turn on the heater to use the pool, only to learn that the heater had never been connected to the gas line? Again another proven and documented example of GROSS NEGLECT. This time Holland management BLAMED the home builder and to get the issue resolved the homeowner had to coordinate with the homebuilder to FINALLY get the heater "connected". Subsequently only to have "the flow function" of the heater not work correctly. FINALLY in May (when you do do not need pool heat) some 9 months from pool startup was the issue resolved: Not by Holland but by the homeowners coordination and efforts. 3. The pool has a dark floor and multi-color glass tile finish: due to the leak that existing for 10 months, the tile and flooring has significant calcium build-up. (due to the fact with all the "fresh water" required to replenish the water level: one simply cannot add chemicals fast enough or timely enough to "balance the water). Upon finally fixing the leak Holland BLAMED the pool maintenance vendor and again the homeowner for their quality and service problems, even after Hollands own technicians committed to us that Holland would remediate the tile! Holland management BLAMED their own service technicians by telling us Holland would remediate the tile. As such the homeowner had to spend the money and time to remediate the tile due to Holland's GROSS NEGLECT. Again these are just 3 of the major issues (there are a total of 22 additional items thus far have taken an average of 73 days to resolve) that factually illustrate how NEGLECT AND UNETHICAL the management of Holland is. It should be noted that we as homeowners are not "rookie" pool owners: we have owned pool for over 20 years!
We spent a few weeks working with a representative named Preston. Nice enough guy I guess. Had cool design software, and seemed to be Zoom literate. But he couldn’t seem to grasp the simple fact we didn’t want a cookie-cutter pool. We are social media influencers and kind of visionaries, and we wanted to document the process of Holland building something different and very cool for our socials. Sadly it’s probably not gonna happen with Holland Pools. Unfortunately this is the only pool builder Viera Builders will work with in our community at this time. Holland built the pool at the model home we purchased. It’s nice, but it’s very small and boring. And EXPENSIVE. Friends just had a pool almost twice that size installed by Martin Pools a few months ago, during Covid, for $38,000 including the screen. The convenience and savings of having a pool rolled into your mortgage is a wonderful perk. But $80k+ for a boring 9’x30’ pool isn’t doing anyone any good. Granted, our pool area is strangely small, but I sent him several photos of very cool small pool, patio, and spa designs that would fit into our small space perfectly. His response, a week later? “Oh, I see you sent me an email. What was that about?” What? Really? Fine, maybe he was busy that week. Strike 2. I consulted another pool designer and he told me we could easily build what we were thinking about, and it would actually save the pool company a lot of money in time and materials to build it. As a matter fact, Holland Pools’ own website showed a similar design they had built for someone. But Preston didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. I sent him a rough rendering and an explanation. More than a week later, we still hadn’t back heard from Preston. We gave up and canceled the pool. I’ve seen some of the other designs on their website and read some of the other reviews. Apparently they do have some more responsive and talented designers on staff. Due to supposed shortages of material and labor, their prices are currently crazy. There’s no flexibility or negotiation available. They wanted to charge us the same $80,000+++ price for a much smaller, plain, boring spool with a screen because of “minimum pricing.” This is new construction on a corner lot, so builders can pre-plumb and use full size excavators to save a ton of time. Cake job. It’s unfortunate that we were unable to work with this company. And at this point, I don’t think I can recommend them.
