We recently completed our pool that we had been dreaming about for a long time. Robbie and his wife Melissa worked with us for over a year designing, redesigning, redesigning (you get it) before landing on the perfect design that had something in it for everyone in the family. Even when I said I didn't want any concrete around my pool Robbie was awesome and working in our turf deck (which the kiddos LOVE and I don't worry so much when they are running around even thou I say "stop running" a million times). They completed the project within the timeline they promised with the exception of a delay due to a hurricane (completely out of their control). They did all our landscaping and our outdoor kitchen. If we had any concerns Robbie or Melissa called us back as soon as they were available and addressed them promptly. They were a pleasure to work with. We LOVE, LOVE our pool and now that the weather is warming up (although its heated) we are using it all the time and finding so much joy just hanging out as a family and with friends. So many memories will be made - thanks Robbie and Melissa!

They say good things come to those who wait, and this is certainly the case with Robbie, Mellisa and Jesse. I waited for two years for them to do my pool renovation and it was totally worth it. They were amazing from start to finish. My pool looks absolutely amazing, they didn’t bite off more than they can chew. They only take on enough jobs that they can handle in a certain amount of time and that is definitely respectful in this day and age. They did the demo, added the spa, they resurfaced the deck, added a roof and chill area. Also added drains and new programmable LED lights and entirely new pump system that I can control with my phone - so that means when I leave work, I can turn the hot tub on and by the time I get home it’s time to chill and unwind in the spa! Highly recommended - 10 out of 10. Don’t trust anyone else with your investment! Btw the whole thing happened in 3 months - they don’t just dig a hole and leave it there for years like every other pool contractor in town 🤿🏊🏻‍♂️🎱

I can't say enough about Next Level Pools and Spas. Robbie Taylor was the first pool GC we met with. Our backyard was not in good shape. Within one or two nights he had detailed renderings of what our backyard COULD look like. I don't think we changed much of anything from his vision. We hired him and he made his drawings a reality. His wife, Melissa, is also a crucial piece of the team. Coordinating the business side and client communication. We had a total house overhaul and unfortunately found that there are plenty of contractors that you cannot trust. Robbie was not one of them - he's very responsive, kept to his word, and was generally a good guy. After he finishes transforming your backyard, he's the type of guy you'd be lucky to have at your pool party. On top of that, his pricing was very fair and competitive. You have to pay for quality work, but Robbie will bring you a fair price. We were referred to him by a friend, and were lucky to have that referral.

We did extensive homework when researching a pool builder, narrowing our search down and ultimately choosing Next Level Pools and Spas. So glad we went with them! They worked with my budget, provided excellent communication and customer support and delivered our dream backyard paradise! Robbie, Melissa and Jesse were so pleasant to deal with. Jesse was our project manager and was on top of everything. I could easily reach him via text msg when needed. We had an issue with our heat pump and Melissa stepped in immediatly to handle the repair/replacement. They are a family owned business so you deal with them personally instead of numerous staff compared to bigger companies. Its just a much more personalized experience. As a small business owner myself, I very much value the customer service aspect as I strive to provide that to my customers as well. Thank you Robbie, Melissa and Jesse!

Yikes - I'm not even sure where to start because this experience has been so bad that I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and never hire Robby and his "company." Everything was great until we signed the contract and wrote the first check. That was about the last time we saw Robby Taylor in person. Robby told us the project would take 5-8 weeks but we're in the construction industry so we would've given them up to 12 and still been happy. Well that was in July 2022 and the project, as of February 1, 2023, is still not complete. The project was to add a spa to our existing pool. There was a good amount of demo to be done and that was all handled very quickly although, poorly. My husband asked Robby if we needed to have our irrigation people out to mark our lines and Robby assured us that his guys would take care of it. You can guess where this is going - they didn't and we had irrigation under our pool deck leaking and shooting up through the tile. When asked about it the standard answer is always “that’s not in the contract as our scope of work.” And here's the thing: if he told us to have our irrigation people out WE WOULD HAVE, happily but Robby told us his guys would take care of it. There have been so many issues that I would need to write a book to go through all of them. But what I really want from this review is that no one go through what we've had to go through. No communication from Robby. He seemingly forgot about our project and hired a "superintendent" Jess Ellington to finish it. Since the project is STILL not finished you can imagine how that has been going. We’ve paid every bill they have sent within 2 days of receiving an invoice. On one of our last payments, however, Melissa (Robby’s wife) sent an invoice mid-day on a Friday. On Monday they sent Jess to our house at 10am asking for a check “to avoid further delays” as if ANY of the “delays” were because we didn’t pay. Wow. I had a check for them that Monday afternoon but that did not prevent any more delays. The whole project has felt like we’re inconveniencing Robby as if he’s doing it for free. Our checkbook disagrees. And I would appreciate a bit more customer service from this company. Robby is argumentative and combative when he finally decides to communicate as if we should have known the information. Well… that’s why we (thought we) hired a reputable business to build a spa for us. Please, save yourself the headache and hire literally anyone else. Or maybe Robby will like you better than he likes us and treat your project differently. But, we didn’t pay Robby $60k+ to like us. We paid him to build us a spa and he has yet to deliver on that front. Updated May 2024: our pool was finally completed February 2023 but just over a year later, Next Level Pools is the gift that just keeps on giving: there’s a crack and bulge in the side of the pool that we will now have to pay even more money to have fixed. Sigh.

Company Snapshot

Since 2007, Next Level Pools and Spas, LLC of Maitland has held Florida Certified Pool/Spa Contractor license CPC1457422 under qualifier Robert Scott Taylor, current per DBPR records.

Specialties & Service Area

Reviewers describe a full backyard-transformation approach rather than pool-only work — clients mention landscaping, outdoor kitchens, turf decking, spa additions, and screen roofs alongside the pool itself.

What Customers Say

The 4.8-star rating (38 reviews, matched by an identical 4.8/38 on Birdeye) is echoed on Yelp (4.2/33), though HomeAdvisor skews noticeably lower on a much smaller sample (3.5/6). Detailed reviews describe owners Robbie and Melissa working through extended redesign phases — one client mentioned over a year of design iterations before landing on a final plan they loved, and another waited roughly two years for a renovation that included a spa addition, new deck, roof, and lighting system, calling the wait worthwhile. The most serious complaint on record describes a spa-addition project that dragged well past its quoted 5-to-8-week timeline, with the client alleging poor communication and a dispute over irrigation damage during construction.

Bottom Line

A long-standing license and detailed, largely positive reviews point to a company that leans into complex, design-heavy projects — but that same complexity shows up as the source of the one detailed negative account on file, involving extended timelines and communication gaps. Worth discussing project pacing expectations upfront.

What kind of pool projects is Next Level Pools and Spas known for designing?

What do reviews say about the customer experience with Next Level Pools and Spas?

Most reviews are glowing about the family-run team (Robbie, Melissa, and Jesse are named repeatedly) and describe frequent personal communication and competitive pricing.
