Pratt Guys designed and built our beautiful back yard project from A-to-Z and they stand behind their work. Their work included a high quality custom pool with integrated spa, fire features and water features. They also built a sunken kitchen with a swim-up bar and pergola. Our outdoor kitchen includes a fully sink with hot cold and hot water as well as sewer. Finally, they built a whole full bathroom that is attached to the house and accessible from the outside, but is fully plumed and air conditioned. Pratt Guys get 5 stars from me, not because there were zero issues, but because they stand behind their work and honor their warranty even years later. Here is a breakdown of my ratings: First, what I love about Pratt Guys and Our project: * A+ for being able to handle everything from A-toZ: They pulled permits and handled everything with our HOA/POA, they handled all aspects of the project, including electricians, plumbing and everything else. They were able to do things that other contractors cannot do. * A+ for honoring their warranty and being responsive to our needs. This includes flexibility when we needed more time as well as multiple follow-ups when we ran into issues. * A+ for design, creativity and what I would refer to as being proud of their work. They really take ownership and deliver. * A+ for including all the extras: Low voltage systems, lighting, sound system and even outdoor furniture were taken care of as part of our project. So, we paid a lot, but we got a lot for our money as well. Areas for improvement: - Price: I would say price is definitely one area where you need to think and compare what is worth it to you. Some say that Pratt Guys charge a premium, but you really do get a lot for your money. I say it's probably worth it, but make your own decision. - Extra "bells and whistles:" This is related to the price. If I had to do the project over again, I might not choose all the extras. The team at Pratt Guys definitely sells extra options and premium upgrades. We could have saved money by declining some of the extras and I do wish the Pratt Guys would have advised me against some of the extras that actually cause more headaches in our case. Lastly, I would note that the Pratt Guys really push the value of their premium cost due to quality. For the most part, I would say this is true, but specifically, in our case, I have not been as happy with the durability/installation of the pavers/bricks and travertine. We've had multiple instances of tile and bricks getting loose and sinking. I am not letting this affect my ratings because Pratt Guys consistently stand behind their work and have been very helpful in following up with repairs. But I did want to note this because it was a selling point in the beginning.

Definitely a waste of time. No follow up from sale consultant after 2 weeks from initial consultation. I had to call them and ask if they had any update. The sale rep didn’t even know what's going on and had no idea who we were.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the very first design meeting to the final walkthrough, this team truly brought our backyard dream to life — and then took it to the next level. They didn’t just build a backyard; they custom designed a complete outdoor living experience tailored to our family. Every detail was thoughtfully planned — from the layout and flow to the high-end finishes and all the “bells and whistles” we had hoped for (and some we hadn’t even thought of). The craftsmanship and attention to detail are outstanding, and the space feels like a private resort right at home. One of the biggest bonuses was the addition of an oversized garage for extra storage. It was an idea they helped refine during the planning process, and it has made a huge difference in keeping everything organized without sacrificing aesthetics. It blends seamlessly with the overall design and looks like it was always meant to be there. Communication was clear, timelines were managed well, and the entire team was professional, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure we were thrilled with the final result. If you’re looking for a builder who listens, innovates, and delivers beyond expectations, we highly recommend them. They didn’t just build a backyard — they created our favorite place to be.

Don't bother walking in unless you are spending beyond their $55,000 minimum. They didn't even listen to what I was interested in doing to my backyard or selling me anything, first thing out of their mouth was $55,000 minimum (not advertised). What a wasted trip, waste of time, I was there 2 minutes! Rude too, the new normal. There are many alternatives.

Thank you, Pratt Guys! We are beyond thrilled with our pool/outdoor space! It’s as though we’re on vacation at a private resort whenever we step outside! When we first started thinking about adding a pool, and potentially an outdoor living space, we had very few ideas of what we wanted. The Pratt Design Team process began with walking us through general size/layout ideas based off our house and backyard, along with potential HOA restrictions. We then worked with Jack on the real design phase. He was very patient and understanding as we have always dreamt of a pool, but again not really sure what we wanted or the possibilities of what our space could bring us. Every detail of the pool itself, sunken kitchen, living space, equipment and future additions to our backyard was thoroughly covered with us. To make a long story short, Jack provided several options to choose from and surprisingly we chose the one that we hadn’t initially considered! And, we LOVE it! The entire space turned out to be above and beyond anything we ever would have imagined. The Pratt Team handled everything – including HOA documentation, applications and permits. Overall, the process went very well and we are enjoying the outdoor spaces every chance we get!

Wow! An emphatic Five Stars!! Mary and I could not be happier. From start to finish our experience with each associate was extremely helpful and rewarding. These are professionals. They knew more about what we wanted than we could articulate ourselves. From our initial inspiration photos, through ten computer generated design renderings, HOA approval process, ground breaking and final walk through, we found the Pratt Guys to be knowledgeable, responsive, patient and polite. The process is expensive, but you get what you pay for with Pratt Guys. Top line materials and appliances. A team of contractors that take pride in their work…craftsman. I could not imagine managing all these moving parts with the trades myself. This is the true value added in doing business with Pratt Guys. They do it all. With all these moving parts and a myriad of design details, mishaps are inevitable. We had a handful with ours. But here again, problem resolution was swift and done to our complete satisfaction. Mary and I will spend countless hours under our Pavilion making memories with family and friends. Thank you Pratt Guys for making our dream a reality.

About Pratt Guys Inc

Learn everything about Pratt Guys of Jacksonville — their reviews, license CPC056645, standing, and what they actually build! Only at FloridaPoolz.

Who they are

Pratt Guys works from Philips Highway in Jacksonville on Florida pool contractor license CPC056645 — current since March 1993. Thirty-three years on the state's register puts them among the longest-licensed firms on this list. Google lists them as Pratt Guys Pools and Outdoor Living. They build new pools, screen enclosures, spas, water features and outdoor living, and their emphasis is on the whole backyard rather than the pool alone. 24 project photographs are published.

What the reviews say

Google has them at 4.7 from 156 reviews — close to two tenths above the Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders on this directory, on one of the larger records here. Seven reviewers name their professionalism, five the quality of the build and four their communication. The fullest account describes a whole backyard designed and built end to end, and makes a point of saying the firm stood behind the work afterwards.

One critical review is specific and useful in a way most are not: a customer says they were not taken seriously below the firm's $55,000 minimum, and left feeling unheard rather than badly treated. That is a positioning complaint rather than a quality one, and it is genuinely worth knowing before you call — a minimum project size is a legitimate way to run a business and an expensive surprise for anyone who has not been told.

What they build

New pool construction, screen enclosures, spas and hot tubs, water features and outdoor living, around Jacksonville. They keep one written page for Jacksonville itself. The scale of the work in their photographs matches the minimum a customer describes: this is a whole-backyard firm rather than a pool-only one.

Before you sign

Ask what their minimum project size is on the first call. One customer's whole complaint is that nobody told them, and the answer costs you nothing to get. Beyond that, the record is strong: get the scope, exclusions, payment stages and completion date in writing, and ask to see two finished backyards of a scale close to yours. The license has run continuously since 1993; ask separately for the insurance certificate, which Florida does not publish.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Are Pratt Guys licensed in Florida?

Yes. Florida pool contractor license CPC056645 has been current since March 1993 — thirty-three years, among the longest on this directory. Ask for the insurance certificate separately.

How does their rating compare with other Florida builders?

4.7 from 156 Google reviews, against a Florida average of 4.52 across the 346 builders here. Close to two tenths above the middle on a large record, which is a stronger position than a higher score on a small one.

Is there a minimum project size?

One customer says they were told, in effect, not to bother below $55,000, and felt unheard as a result. We cannot confirm the figure, and a minimum is a legitimate way to run a business — but ask on the first call rather than discovering it in a showroom.

Where do they work?
