Who they are

Advanced Pool Design works out of Groveland in Lake County, west of Orlando, and has held Florida contractor license CPC1458541 since June 2014 — twelve years, with a website that has been running since the same period. They describe themselves as family-owned, which the public record does not settle either way.

What they build

New pool construction, spas, screen enclosures and outdoor living space. The enclosure work matters: it is a separate trade from the pool shell and having it in one company means one point of responsibility for the pool and the cage around it. Six separate customers name the quality of the workmanship and six the professionalism — an unusually even split, and both counts are high for a review base this size.

Where they work

Groveland is the licensed base, and they claim a great deal more than that. They publish separate pages for eighteen places across Lake and Orange counties — Clermont, Apopka, Winter Garden, Ocoee, Oakland, Mount Dora, Tavares, The Villages, Windermere, Minneola, Lady Lake and more. Read that carefully, though: almost all of those pages are the same page with the town name changed, and several are near-identical to each other. That is evidence of marketing reach rather than of a presence in each town. Groveland is where they are, the rest of Lake County is a reasonable assumption, and anything toward Orlando or up to The Villages is worth asking about directly rather than reading off a page.

What the record shows

Google has them at 4.6 from 21 reviews, just above the 4.52 average across Florida's builders. The most telling review is one that is not from a customer at all: someone who did not hire them writes that they were given advice, warnings and practical tips anyway, and says their next remodel or repair will go to Advanced. Free advice to someone who has not paid you is a decent proxy for how a company behaves generally. Against that, one customer describes them as overpriced and reports a salesman who was short with them and uninterested in understanding what they wanted before leaving. That is one account out of twenty-one, so it is a caution rather than a pattern, and it is about the sales conversation rather than the building — but it is the opposite experience to the one above, so which you get may depend on who turns up. Nothing on the complaint side was raised by two or more customers. If price is a concern, get more than one quote and ask them to walk you through what is included, because the one dissenting account is about value and about not being listened to, and both are things you can test in a first meeting.
