We recently had our pool renovated by Great American Pool Pros, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, Michael was responsive, professional, and easy to work with. When I reached out for a quote, he responded quickly, came out promptly, and provided a very competitive estimate. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient as I worked through my indecision on tile selections and the Stonescapes finish color. He took the time to answer my questions and made sure I was comfortable with every decision. The finished pool turned out exactly as I envisioned—beautiful workmanship with no stress or hassle. Michael's crew was outstanding: hardworking, skilled, respectful, and genuinely pleasant to have around. They completed the renovation in just 2½ days, which was impressive, and Michael checked in regularly to make sure everything was progressing as expected and that I was happy with the results. It's refreshing to work with a company that delivers excellent communication, quality work, and exceptional customer service. I highly recommend Great American Pool Pros for any pool renovation or repair project. Michael and his team are true professionals, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
We are in the inspection period of buying a new home and I had several questions about the pool. I saw that he was highly recommended so I called him. Michael was very knowledgeable, informative, helpful and patient. He answered all of my questions and was very professional and friendly. He offered to do anything that we needed, including stopping by to take a look at the pool in person. He has gained a client. We will use him in the future for any and all of our pool needs.
I cannot recommend Great American Pools enough! When I was searching for a company to resurface, retile, and redo the coping of our pool, I had nine different companies come out for quotes. Great American Pools stood out by far as the best. From the beginning, Mike and his team were incredibly professional and attentive. Mike personally came out multiple times with different samples to help us decide on the perfect look. No easy task, given all the amazing options they offer. His patience and guidance made the process feel easy and exciting. Throughout the entire project, Mike kept in constant communication and was always on time. The work was completed efficiently, and the quality is truly exceptional. Our pool looks absolutely stunning. We’ve received so many compliments from friends and neighbors, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Even after the job was done, Mike continued to check in with us to make sure everything was running smoothly and that we were happy with the final result. His dedication to customer satisfaction is unmatched. Every member of his team was kind, respectful, and incredibly knowledgeable. And as a fun bonus they played great music while they worked, which added to the positive atmosphere! If you’re looking for pool resurfacing, new tile, coping work, or even regular maintenance, Great American Pools is the company to call. I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant at first since they’re a newer company but I’m so glad I went with my gut. It was hands down the best decision.

American Gulf Pools, trading as Great American Pool Pros: licensed since 2024, a clean 5.0 from eight reviews, strongest on pool renovation.
American Gulf Pools is the name on the Florida license; the name on the van, the website and every review is Great American Pool Pros. Expect the licensed name only on contracts and paperwork. They work from Garvin Street in Punta Gorda, Charlotte County, on license CPC1460670, issued in June 2024 and current — two years. They describe themselves as family-owned and as the most trusted, the first being their own account and the second not a position anyone holds on the record, and as licensed and insured, which is half checkable: the license is real, insurance is not verifiable from outside. Ask for the certificate.
New pool construction, renovation and resurfacing, repairs, ongoing pool service, spas and hot tubs, water features and outdoor living work. Seven lines, and on the evidence renovation is where they are strongest — the most detailed review describes resurfacing, retiling and redoing the coping, which is a specific and demanding combination rather than a general compliment. They publish fourteen project photographs and no opening hours, and list three phone numbers. Worth noting for anyone comparing quotes: the customer who described that renovation says they collected nine different quotes before choosing this company, which is a more considered endorsement than most.
Punta Gorda, and they publish pages for thirteen places up the coast — Port Charlotte, North Port, Venice, Englewood, Rotonda West, Placida, Boca Grande, Nokomis, Osprey, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch and Myakka City among them. Those pages are near-copies of one another rather than written about each place, so we treat them as marketing rather than documented reach. The geography holds together though: everything named sits along the Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee coast within reasonable driving distance, which is more than several builders on this list can claim. They updated their serving-area page last week. Read it as the southwest coast between Boca Grande and Bradenton, and confirm your own address by phone.
A clean 5.0 on Google from eight reviews, close to half a point above the 4.52 Florida average, with no rating below top marks and nothing negative on record. Eight reviews is a very small sample and we are not going to inflate it: one theme clears our reporting floor, with three customers naming their professionalism, and that is the extent of what can be reported as a pattern. What the individual accounts add is more useful than the score. One customer took nine quotes for a resurface, retile and coping job before choosing them — somebody who had seen the whole local market and picked this firm. Another describes a renovation that exceeded expectations from the very beginning. Both are renovation jobs, so the evidence is stronger on remodelling than on new builds, and if you are building from nothing it is worth asking for references from new construction specifically. There is no complaint theme and no negative review of any kind. The cautions are all about how new and how small this is: two years of trading, eight reviews, no published warranty terms and no opening hours. None of that is a mark against them; all of it means the conversation has to do the work the record cannot. Get the warranty in writing, and confirm which of the licensed name and the trading name goes on your contract.

American Gulf Pools, Inc. is the name on the Florida contractor license; Great American Pool Pros is the name on the website, the email address and every review. Both are the same business. Expect the licensed name on the contract and paperwork, and confirm which one you are signing with.
A clean 5.0 from eight reviews, close to half a point above the 4.52 Florida average, with nothing negative on record. Three customers name their professionalism — all eight reviews can support. The most considered account is from a customer who collected nine different quotes for a resurface, retile and coping job before choosing them.
Renovation, on the evidence. Both detailed accounts describe remodelling work — resurfacing, retiling, coping — rather than pools built from nothing. They do list new construction, so ask for references from new builds specifically if that is your project.
They publish pages for thirteen, but those are near-copies of each other rather than written about each place, so treat them as marketing. The geography does hold together — everything named is along the Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee coast. The southwest coast between Boca Grande and Bradenton is the sensible reading; confirm your address by phone.
Their license, CPC1460670, dates from June 2024 — two years — with the domain from a couple of months earlier. They publish no warranty terms and no opening hours, so both have to be asked for. With eight reviews and two years of trading, the conversation has to do the work the record cannot.
