We absolutely recommend Cox Pools. They gave us superb, highly responsive and quality services throughout our pool build process. It took us a few months to decide and get approvals, and Cox Pools was patient and very helpful through the full journey. They finished our pool in a very timely manner, and strove to make a date for an inaugural swim with our grandsons. While we've heard many individuals talk of trouble in their pool builds, we have nothing but rave reviews for Cox Pools for the entirety of our process. We had questions and needed clarification on items months after the pool was completed, and they responded immediately and came in person to answer our questions. Go with Cox Pools for your pool or backyard build, and you'll be very happy with the outcome.

I am not one to post negative reviews, however, I must warn any customers about the Cox warranty. I had a crack in the sidewall after 2 years and they came out to look at it and said it was just the plaster. They never did a leak test when they visually checked. My pool pump then proceeded to fail as a result of continued water loss. I had my pool service company perform a leak/dye test and they determined there was a leak from the crack. When I informed Cox, they said they would put me on the schedule and cover it under warranty, but it will be approximately 2 Years before they can get to us! They followed up and said that we can pay to have someone else fix it, but they will not reimburse us and it will void our warranty! No wavering or willingness to work with me to figure out a solution.

Love our pool. Cox Pools salesman Ben is very knowledgeable and was very responsive to our questions/concerns throughout the whole build and even beyond. The staff from front desk to maintenance has been great. The plastering could be a bit more level on a few areas, but nothing serious. The water tile was installed very carefully. Any issues/concerns were addressed & promptly corrected. I would warn anyone whose home or fencing is close to the pool, make sure the plastic barrier completely covers top to bottom and is taped down on all 4 sides, as the mist from the gunite spray carries in the air. Brett came to the house and conducted our pool school. Very knowledgeable, patient and informative. We opted for the Hayward OmniLogic controller with WIFi and are happy with it. We did end up putting a wireless mesh system in our home to get a better WiFi signal to the Hayward Transceiver outside. We also screened in the pool. Ben worked with us and the screening company to make it a smooth process. Highly recommend Cox Pools. The pool was completed on time and we even had to shut down the build for a week when the COVID-19 restrictions first came out in March 2020.

This is my first yelp review EVER and I'm not one to complain. Absolutely DISAPPOINTED with COX pools. Pool done 6 months later than promised. Destroyed our entire rental season ---- Sad to write this one star review. Cox pools was seemingly promising when we started working with them, but ended up being horrible to work with. Wish I would've checked Yelp before as I see many others have had the same issues we faced. The pool was done 6 months (!!!!!) later than promised, totally destroying our rental season and creating a mess in our yard that was untouched for months. Months would pass and I wasn't even able to get in touch with anyone over the phone to even get an update. Extremely extremely frustrating!! Hoping to let HOA know to warn people about using them. Wish we had a better experience. Have learned that bigger companies are NOT always better. Be warned!!!!!

My experience with Cox Pools has been EXCELLENT! We bought a home and added a 15'x30' kidney shaped pool. The entire process from meeting with Daniel and designing the pool, through construction to "pool school" was very well communicated. Excellent QUALITY and SERVICE are two words that come to mind with Cox Pools. Cox Pools has a long history of building the best quality Pools in the area. I had several friends from this area tell me to use Cox Pools. I never even got bids from other pool contractors. I was not disappointed. The project finished earlier than expected and exactly as detailed in the contract. All the employees that built my pool were very professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about my pool.

I wanted to update my review to warn other potential customers of Cox Pools. This is a update from my previous reviews regarding my new pool which was finished May, 2019. My pool is leaking again and loosing significant water each day. Cox Pools was notified about the pool leaking again about 3 weeks ago. To date, I don't know the source of the leak or the fix. Representatives of Cox Pools are suppose to show up to try to identify the problem and they don't show up or call. Unless you want poor workmanship, no communication with the owner, delays and a company that doesn't stand behind their expensive product, then don't use Cox Pools. Call me if you want.. 404-520-2992

About Cox Pools

Cox Pools of Panama City Beach: published Top 50 awards and 4.3 from 182 Google reviews.

Who they are

Cox Pools works out of Lyndell Lane in Panama City Beach and holds Florida contractor license CPC1459628, current since May 2021. The name is considerably older than that license — their web presence goes back to 1998 — so this is a long-standing Panhandle firm rather than a new arrival, and a license can be re-issued for ordinary reasons. They describe themselves as family-owned, which the public record does not settle.

What they build

Custom inground gunite pools, commercial pools, renovation, servicing, spas, water features and outdoor living work. The commercial side is unusual on this list and worth knowing if you are not a homeowner. Their site publishes named awards including a PSN Top 50 Builders listing alongside two award badges. We have not written to the awarding publications, so it rests on their own published record — but the record exists and names real bodies, which is more than most can offer.

Where they work

Panama City Beach and the surrounding Bay County coast, and they publish a substantial site with well over a hundred pages including area and advice pages. It was last updated in May 2026 and reviews arrive continuously, the most recent three days before this profile was built.

What the record shows

The two platforms disagree sharply here and both are big enough to matter, so read them together rather than picking one. Google has them at 4.3 from 182 reviews — solid, just under the 4.52 Florida average. Yelp has them at 2.3 from 23. Twenty-three reviews is not a handful, and averaged across both they sit at 4.08, below the state figure. The praise is real: nine customers name their professionalism, four the communication and three the build quality, and several describe an unpressured sale and a responsive build. What the complaints agree on is more specific and more serious than the usual grumbles, and four separate customers raise it: the pools developing faults after they are finished, and difficulty getting them honoured. One describes a crack in the sidewall after two years and being told it was not covered. Another, writing about a pool completed in 2019, reports it leaking again on a repeat visit. A third describes a build handed over six months later than promised, costing them an entire rental season. This is not a complaint about finish or manners — it is about durability and about warranty, and it is the most consequential kind there is because it surfaces long after the money has gone. If you are considering them, the awards and the Google record are genuine and so is the other side. Get the warranty in writing before signing — its length, exactly what counts as a defect, who inspects it, and what happens if a crack or a leak appears in year two. That is the precise point at which these accounts break down, and it is the one thing you can settle in advance.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Is Cox Pools licensed?

Yes. Florida contractor license CPC1459628 has been current since May 2021, though the business itself is considerably older — their web presence dates to 1998.

Why is their Google rating so much better than their Yelp rating?

Google reads 4.3 from 182 reviews and Yelp 2.3 from 23. Both bases are large enough to take seriously, and combined they average 4.08 — below the 4.52 Florida average. The Yelp reviews are markedly more concerned with what happened after handover, which is the pattern worth reading in detail.

What are the complaints actually about?

Durability and warranty, from four separate customers. One reports a sidewall crack after two years and being told it was not covered. One describes a pool finished in 2019 leaking again on a later visit. Another had a build handed over six months late, losing a rental season. These are faults appearing after completion rather than complaints about finish or manners.

Are their awards real?

They publish named awards including a PSN Top 50 Builders listing, plus two award badges on the site. We have not written to the publications to confirm each year, so this is their own record rather than an independent check — but it names real bodies, which most builders claiming awards cannot do.

What should I settle before signing?

The warranty, in writing: how long it runs, exactly what counts as a defect, who inspects a claim, and what happens if a crack or a leak appears in year two. That is where the negative accounts on record break down, and it is the one risk you can remove in advance.

Do they build commercial pools?

Yes — commercial work sits alongside residential construction, renovation, servicing, spas and water features. That is uncommon among the builders here.
