After moving to Florida, getting a pool for our family’s relaxation is something we had dreamed of for a long time. We searched long and hard for a pool builder with a solid reputation, positive customer reviews, a portfolio of past projects, and experience in the industry. After researching and getting a few estimates, our family chose Polk County Pools out of Lakeland, Florida to construct our dream oasis. As you know, having a pool constructed is a major investment, so getting a trustworthy, reliable contractor is of major importance. After contacting Polk County Pools, we promptly met with Tommy (Sr.) McBride. We have never met with a more kind, caring, non-pressuring “sales person”. He let us explain exactly what we had in mind, not trying to upsell us in any way. He showed us what the layout would be and gave us a chance to think it over. Chris McBride, the project manager, was one of the most pleasant, helpful, responsible persons we have had the pleasure of working with. He was always willing to answer all questions and concerns. Chris was present during every step of the process, constantly overseeing the work to make sure everything was up to his high-quality standards. He maintained constant communication and was never bothered to get back to us. The quality of workmanship that Polk County Pools provided was exceptional, performed in an unmatched timeframe. Tommy Jr., JT, Michael, Calvin, Justin, in addition to Tommy Sr. and Chris, were some of the hardest workers we have ever seen. In addition to all that, they were all always super courteous, pleasant, and helpful always going beyond their normal duties. The sub-contractors that Polk County Pools used were also top-notch. All of them were super hard working and friendly. This included the Pool Screen installers, PebbleTec installers, and Paver installers. You’ve always heard you get what you pay for. We felt we were treated fairly, and in the long run, couldn’t be more delighted. Throughout the construction process, we saw in the results as to why this was money well spent. Even after pool completion, Polk County Pools returned to check on how the pool was performing, answering and rectifying any concerns or minor issues we encountered, going above and beyond in many ways. For example, they repaired a damaged sidewalk (due to construction), fixed a damaged screen after hurricane Milton, fixed a paver platform that was damaged during the irrigation replacement, painted the stucco where the old patio screen was, and even added a garden hose holder, all at their cost. In conclusion, we found Polk County Pools staff to be knowledgeable, courteous, patient, friendly and a joy to work with. They truly care about every pool they construct as if it was their own. Being a family business, they provide unmatched performance in the overall construction process. Our pool was completed in record time, to which we received numerous positive comments from neighbors regarding the speed of the construction process. We would highly recommend Polk County Pools to anyone who may in the market for their dream pool construction and trust that your experience with them will be as positive as ours. TLDR: I can't say enough good things about Polk Pools, If you want a pool get it from Polk Pools, they are honest, dependable, and respectful. 7 month edit: We LOVE our pool! Hurricane IAN Test passed with flying colors. Pool cage is ROCK SOLID! Neighbors used a big name company that starts with a "G" and ends with a "riffin". They had a tension cable brake during Ian, the entire cage was moving in the wind. Original Post: Tommy McBride came out and did the initial consult and provided a quote. Chris McBride managed the project, maintained constant communication, and walked me through each phase step by step answering every single one of my (many) questions patiently without ever sounding frustrated. We needed to use my neighbor's yard to get to my back yard and they were careful to not damage the greenery, and when the heavy machinery damaged the irrigation they fixed it before anyone even knew it was a problem. Polk Pools is local, Family-owned, and are unique in that they OWN all of their equipment, so you know they aren't going to disappear on you. One of the biggest surprises that I loved, was that I didn't have a constantly rotating carousal of contractors on my property. Nearly every time work was being done on the pool it was the McBrides doing the work, or they were there working with their subcontractors. I learned that they have cultivated relationships with all of their subcontractors whom they selected for their quality of work, not the lowest bidder, and it shows in their work! We Broke Ground on 11-29-2021 and were swimming in the pool by 2-15-2022, we ended on budget with no surprises. I am very thankful that we found and decided to use Polk Pools. I don't know why anyone would choose anyone else. Interior finish: Quartz sky blue Deck Paver color : lions bridge Deck Paver style: mega old town Pool size: 14 x 28
After a friend recommended Polk County Pools, I couldn’t find much about them online. After looking at my friend’s pool and seeing how well it turned out I called and spoke to the owner Tommy. He scheduled a consultation that weekend. They are a family-owned business and do the majority of the work themselves, unlike other pool companies who subcontract out labor that delays the build. They gave us a reasonable start date and started on time. Chris gave me his phone number so that I could ask questions at any time during the build process. He always answered my questions the same day. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. They are hardworking honest people who pay attention to detail. If you aren’t sure what pool company to use to build your pool, I HIGHLY recommend Polk County Pools! Sun shelf with bubbler, flowcrete deck (slate grey), sky blue interior finish, classic gris waterline tiles, bronze screen enclosure.
My wife and I have nothing but great things to say about our experience with Polk County Pools. We broke ground on Jan 13th & our pool is gorgeous and fully functional. The whole experience has been superb from start to finish. We wanted to find a company that was family owned with a more personal experience with very minimal sub contracting out. Polk County Pools exceeded our expectations on all the attention to detail, communication, promptness, and just made our pool building experience a breeze. Chris McBride has went above and beyond to make sure the pool met all of our expectations and more. Huge thank you to Tommy and his sons for the amazing job as we can’t wait to make memories with our children! Pool Size: 14’x28’ with 90’s Sport Bottom with Double Sky Blue Finish 1 4’x4’ Splash Pad with Bubbler for the Kiddos 1 6’x6’ Tanning Ledge for Momma Tile: Cobalto Deck: Cool Seal Cabo Beach
When using Polk County Pools it is best to remember, Tommy doesn't write down what you want correctly or he misplaces his notebook that he recorded the measurement in. Also, he gets confused on what style of pool goes with which customer. We contracted for a Kidney shaped pool and he presented a rectangle pool on the drawing he gave us. Which he took back, because it was wrong!! We ask, "Tommy, why is this a drawing of the rectangle pool you talked us out of?" We are supposed to get a Kidney shaped pool? Instead we got a "Free Formed" pool and had to pay extra to get the size deck and screen closure we originally discussed and measured for to the tune of $1500.00 extra. Then the equipment failures started less than a month after we were given possession of the pool. The Pool heated was first, it wouldn't heat, less than a month after we were given possession. Tommy told us to set up a service call, "Because it's under warranty". According to the Technician, it wasn't properly serviced after installation. Next the Aquacal ChlorSink Saltwater sensor failed (Feb 2022) and had to be replaced, the cell and the power supply (Mar. 2022 complete unit replaced). The final straw was the pump went out on June 14, 2022!! Called Tommy, "we'll have someone out in 1 or 2 days". 3rd day text Tommy to find out who was coming out? Mike's Pool Service was the text we got back. A full week went by, and the pool was turning green and black. I finally got on line with PentAir, the pump manufacture, to see if the pump had been registered for warranty. According to PentAir, no record of pump being under warranty or registered. I text Tommy and told him my pool cleaning service was going to look at it and he replace the pump to the tune of $2000.00 parts, labor and to clean up the pool!! Here we are 7 and a half months in, all equipment has been repaired or replaced. Now we're noticing the pool deck is starting to crack. Bottom line, make sure you get what you want in writing (which we didn't get). Make sure the equipment warranty is registered with the Manufacturer.
Spoke to Chris about having my pool resurfaced. Later that evening I received a text asking me again about my pool and the availability I had for the week for an estimate. I waited for 2 days and finally texted and asked if we were going to set up an estimate. I had a reply stating that he would be over on Friday at 1:30. I received no call, no text, no technician, and no estimate, therefore, I will be looking elsewhere for my pool resurfacing.
