Unfortunately I did not have the pleasure of coming across this company before selecting who was going to build our pool otherwise I would Have selected them. However, during the construction process of my pool with another company I had A concern on something and I felt As if our pool builder was trying to cut corners. I came To Bryan the owner of CFL Home and Pools and he told me exactly what I needed To say to fight back to our pool builder and even went as far as providing me with proof so I can Back up my claims to my pool builder. If you want your pool done the right way, this is who you need to build your pool. Thanks Bryan!!! You will forever receive all of my referrals

Abysmal ownership, accountability, and communication. Extremely poor project management and follow through. Below average workmanship and finished product. Every phase of the project took much longer than promised and several phases had to be redone multiple times due to poor workmanship, quality, and not passing inspection.

Just wanted to take a minute to review Central Florida Homes and Pools Inc, especially Bryan Gurney, who I dealt with the whole time. Due to some oversights from the last pool remodel that was done a couple of years ago, we needed a whole plumbing and electrical refresh. This is what Bryan and his team did: - Replumbed the entire pool, a huge undertaking - Dug a massive trench alongside the entire pool in order to insert backflow valves which had been closed off by the previous contractor, and did this to avoid the cost and disruption of breaking up the travertine deck. Just very ingenious and creative to get the job done and save us cost and time. - Fixed and replaced our broken and unsafe light system - Fixed our spa (it had no bubbles due to bad plumbing) - Acid washed the whole pool which had suffered a lot of calcification due to the lack of backflow - Cleared out the main drain that was clogged up permanently from the last job - Replaced all of the old valves, most of the piping, and put in a new filter basket and chlorinator - Took great care to clean up after all the work - this is something that MOST contractors DON’T do from my experience but Bryan and team paid a lot of attention to detail and made sure to do this. - Was extremely communicative throughout the entire job. Always let me know if he was running late or was facing delays and why. Just went the extra mile in every way. I could not recommend Bryan and the team and Central Florida Homes and Pools more. Restoring my faith in contractors after some less than ideal experiences! If you ever need work done, get in touch with Bryan!

Never got the service. Didn’t get though the initial process of making an appointment because of no response then a rude response which included them not wanting my business. Not sure who I chatted with but I would have to be treated a little better for me to give my money to for a service.

I can’t recommend Central Florida Home and Pools enough!! We bought our home in March and already came in knowing we had to resurface the pool. Bryan came and checked everything out and turns out all the equipment was broken and the pool had not been running for a very long time. We then get the project started and came across several leaks and other issues that we had to fix. Bryan was great the whole time and was honest with us when it came down to discussing what needed to be fixed. If anyone needs to fix their pool or need a new pool I would recommend this business! Before and after pictures below.

Finished product was good - but getting there was anything but smooth. Communication was poor throughout the project Little guidance on pool design and what works well together (finish with tile selection, etc). Almost every timeline/deadline that was communicated was missed with no reasoning or explanation. Quick to threaten "breach of contract" when they think money is due. Still have not had the final inspection (or been communicated with about it). It's been over a year since the pool was finished. Overall all it seemed like we were an afterthought/nuisance vs. a paying customer. Would not recommend.

About Central Florida Homes and Pools Inc

Central Florida Homes and Pools: Florida licensed since 2015, 4.7 from 36 Google reviews, with three customers describing a good pool and a badly run process.

Who they are

Central Florida Homes and Pools holds Florida contractor license CPC1458691, current since June 2015, and their web presence dates to 2012. Their location needs saying carefully, because the record does not agree with itself: the city on file is Daytona Beach, the address on that same record is on South Lake Burkett Lane in Winter Park, near Orlando, and their telephone is a 407 number, which is Orlando. They also publish a page written for Ormond Beach, which sits next to Daytona. The most likely reading is a business that has worked both ends of that corridor, or moved along it — but that is inference, not evidence, so ask them directly which office would run your job. One other thing to establish first: nothing has been published by them since April 2025, some sixteen months ago.

What they build

New pool construction, commercial pools, renovation, repairs, spas, water features, outdoor living and screen enclosures. What their photographs actually show is the finishing detail rather than wide shots of finished pools — travertine coping, a spillway spa with a knee wall and planter, mudcap step tile, a grey travertine deck against an aqua-white interior finish. That is an unusual thing to photograph and it tells you something: this is a company that expects to be judged on materials and edges. If those choices matter to you, their gallery is more useful than most.

Where they work

Winter Park and the Orlando area on the evidence of the address and the phone number, and Ormond Beach on the evidence of the page they wrote for it. They publish nothing for other individual towns, so confirm your own address by phone — and given the distance between those two points, confirm who would actually be on site.

What the record shows

Google has them at 4.7 from 36 reviews, above the 4.52 average across Florida's builders and on a base solid enough to carry weight. Six separate customers name their professionalism, and one describes the owner coming out the same day as the first call and spending real time on the design. That is the good half and it is genuinely good. The other half is consistent enough to matter: three separate customers describe the running of the job rather than the pool itself. One calls the ownership, accountability and communication abysmal, with poor project management and every phase taking far longer than promised. One never got past making an appointment, describing no response and then a rude one that made clear their business was not wanted. And the third is the most useful of the three, because it separates the two things cleanly: the finished product was good, but getting there was anything but smooth, with poor communication throughout and little guidance on which design choices work together. Three out of thirty-six is a minority, and none of them says the pool was bad — two explicitly say the opposite. But three people describing the same weakness is a pattern rather than bad luck, and it is a specific one: the build lands well and the process of getting there is badly run. If you use them, agree in writing who your single point of contact is, a schedule with dates for each phase, and a fixed time for design decisions — the three things all three complaints are actually about.

Questions homeowners ask

Answered from this record — not by the business.

Is Central Florida Homes and Pools licensed?

Yes. Florida contractor license CPC1458691 has been current since June 2015. They advertise being licensed and insured; the license is on record, and insurance is not something any public register confirms.

Where are they actually based?

The record disagrees with itself. The city on file is Daytona Beach, the address on the same record is in Winter Park near Orlando, and the phone is a 407 Orlando number. They also publish a page written for Ormond Beach, next to Daytona. Ask which office would run your job and who would be on site.

What do the reviews actually say?

4.7 from 36 reviews on Google, above the 4.52 Florida average. Six customers name their professionalism and one describes the owner arriving the same day as the first call and spending real time on the design.

What are the complaints about?

The running of the job, from three customers, and not the pool. One calls the accountability and communication abysmal with every phase overrunning. One never got past booking an appointment, describing no response then a rude one. The third puts it most usefully: the finished product was good but getting there was anything but smooth, with poor communication and little guidance on design choices.

What should I agree in writing?

A single point of contact, a schedule with dates for each phase, and a fixed time for making design decisions. Those three things are what all three complaints are actually about.

Are they still taking work?

Worth confirming. Nothing has been published by them since April 2025, around sixteen months ago. That does not prove they have stopped, but nothing recent confirms they are active.
