The best and the worst from each platform. Both, always.
We were looking for a GC to quarterback the conversion of our backyard from a big empty grass field to a pool, pergola, outdoor kitchen, artificial grass, pea gravel, etc. From the moment we met Jorge, we knew he was the right fit due to his extensive experience, clear alignment on vision for our backyard, and attention to detail. I told Jorge that this was our first major home renovation project, so we would need some hand holding. His team’s communication throughout the project was great. We never felt ignored. And when the all too inevitable unexpected site-specific hiccups occurred during the construction process, Jorge always reacted quickly with reasonable and effective solutions. In fact, I would say that Jorge and his team went “above and beyond” to ensure that the project was a complete success. Jorge’s various sub-team members were also super professional. The turf guys were top notch, they have a fantastic dedicated electrician on staff, and Geroge, Jr. (who is a young rising star in the Designer pools team and jack of all trades), helped coordinate a lot of the day-to-day work to ensure quality control and keep thing moving at pace. I have definitely had a mixed run with other GC’s in Miami, but Designer Pools are one of the good guys. Strong mix of good character, consistent follow-through, and great results. We are happy with the outcome and would definitely use them again in the future.
Super disappointed with the owner, Jorge. Multiple issues on our new pool that he has refused to address and correct. Not even a callback or a text back. No business ethics, responsibility, or just plain old respect. Many emails with broken promises and NO action. This review was a family decision. We are an honest family that would like to bring awareness to other hardworking folks like ourselves. Designer Pools has taken advantage of a "Paid in Full" client. We are baffled every day as to why Jorge has not reached out to try to resolve these issues. Making things right goes a long way. Being genuine goes a long way. We will not be recommending Designer Pools.
Designer Pools is a solid, honest, family-run business that has an excellent product. Jorge gave us a very fair price for a new pool with pavers. Unlike most contractors in Miami, he was extremely communicative throughout the process and made himself available quickly to answer any questions or concerns. the project was completed on time, within budget, and the pool is high quality and gorgeous. We could not be happier. I highly recommend this company without hesitation.
Jorge and his son run a fair and honest business. I have had my pool for over a year now with no issues and if I message them with general questions they always get back to me. I searched for multiple quotes and Jorge had a fair assessment and was sure to not over promise or over charge. In addition the timeline was really quick considering what I have heard from other companies. I would highly recommend doing business with them!

Designer Pools of Miami: Florida licensed since 2005, 4.7 on Google from 53 reviews, no recurring complaint, working Miami-Dade, Fort Lauderdale and the Keys.
Designer Pools works out of south Miami-Dade, on SW 205 Lane, and has held Florida contractor license CPC1456981 since February 2005 — twenty-one years, which puts them among the longer-established builders on this list. Their own line is precision engineering and limitless design, and the reviews back the first half of that more than the second: what customers keep describing is attention to detail rather than showmanship.
A full range: new pool construction, renovation and resurfacing of existing pools, repairs, servicing, spas, water features and outdoor living work. Landscape design appears alongside the pool work on their site, so they are pitching the whole backyard rather than the shell alone. The resurfacing work gets its own mentions in the reviews — one customer describes a re-surface and a change of decorative tile as a straightforward, well-handled job, which is a different and smaller commission than a new build and worth knowing they take on.
Miami is the base, and unusually for this list they publish pages for the places they travel to rather than leaving it implied: Fort Lauderdale up the coast, and Islamorada down in the Keys. The Keys work is not a throwaway either — it comes up repeatedly in their own material. That is a real spread for a single company, so it is worth asking who runs a job that far from the office and how often they are on site.
Google has them at 4.7 from 53 reviews, above the 4.52 average across Florida's builders and on a base large enough to mean something. Seven separate customers name their professionalism and six the quality of the work itself. No complaint was raised by two or more customers, so there is no recurring problem on the record — on 53 reviews, that is a clean sheet rather than a small sample. They make no awards or superlative claims on their site, which is rarer than it should be and quietly to their credit: there is nothing here to discount. Their Yelp page reads 2.0, from a single review — one person's account, which establishes nothing either way against 53 on Google, and it would be as wrong to hide it as to weigh it. One practical limit: they keep no browsable gallery of finished work, so the handful of project images on their site is all there is to look at. Judge the build quality from the review record rather than the pictures, and ask to see recent local jobs in person.

Yes. Florida license CPC1456981 has been held since February 2005 and shows current.
Google sits at 4.7 across 53 reviews, above the 4.52 Florida average. Seven customers name their professionalism and six the quality of the work. No complaint was raised by two or more separate customers. The praise is about care and detail rather than speed or price.
Miami-Dade is home, and they publish dedicated pages for Fort Lauderdale and for Islamorada in the Keys, so those are areas they actively pursue rather than merely accept. Ask how a job that far out is supervised.
Both. Resurfacing, retiling, repairs and servicing sit alongside new construction, and the smaller renovation jobs appear in the review record rather than only in the sales copy.
Landscape design appears on their site next to the pool work, so they are offering the surrounding backyard as well as the pool. Their license is the pool contractor license, so ask who carries out the planting side.
Only a few. They publish project images across their site rather than keeping a browsable gallery, so there is less to look at than the twenty-one-year record would suggest. Ask them for addresses of recent local builds and go and see one.
Because it rests on one review. Yelp shows 2.0 from a single account, which cannot be compared with 4.7 from 53 reviews on Google — one person is not a rating. It is on the record here because leaving it out would be dishonest, not because it tells you much.
