The best and the worst from each platform. Both, always.
The best experience I have ever had with getting a large project completed. From beginning to end the owner Dan was there ensuring all was done correctly. Dan and all employees were the most professional and to down to earth company I have ever worked with. At the end of the project Troy was the most knowledgeable and friendliest technician I have ever seen. Throughout the whole experience the whole company (Dawn, Alex, Wendy) was so professional and down to earth about all. Glad I selected them from the 5 pool builders I contacted. If you need a need pool you should strongly consider them.
If you leave a negative review on here Johnson's will respond back stating they will fix it or make things right but in reality we reach out directly to them and they tell us the warranty has expired within the 3 years from installation. This just goes to show their quality of work, professionalism, and products are not 5 stars. By far the worst pool company in the area.
Had a in ground pool built by Johnson pools. Pros: -They answer the phone and are honest with you. -The price is right in comparison. -Had small issue after build and they came out the next day to fix it. Cons: -It’s not going to take 4 weeks. Set your expectations for a long process. They are busy. -You need to be present for any yard scaping. There seems to be a confusion from what you and Dan agree to and what happens when they show up and start moving dirt. I would use them again and have recommended them to others if you want a liner pool.
Almost 3 years later & we’re still very disappointed with the work from Johnson’s Pools. The pool liner has been coming out of its tracks and the 1st step of the pool has always had ripples since installation & they’ve been getting worse as the months go on. We have called & told them about it but they do not stand behind their work. They have sent 1 guy out to put the liner back in the tracks and when asked about the ripples on the steps the guy said it’s bc the liner was mismeasured & there’s nothing they can do about it. The worst pool company and $9,000 spent with them.
First-time pool owner here. I contacted Johnson Pools about a pool school, and they had Maury out to my house the following morning. I appreciated the timeliness. Maury took me through our pool equipment and explained what we needed to know. He also took us through how to maintain proper water chemistry. Maury was professional, knowledgeable and generous with his time. We came away with a better understanding of our pool and more confidence in how to take care of it. Well worth it.
I called multiple pool companies to get quotes to place my liner back into the extrusion. I was told the cost for completing the task would $150 from Johnson’s Pools. I set the appointment. When the technician came out he looked at my pool liner and said it could not be fixed, I needed a new liner to call the office to schedule a quote. When I asked for the approximate cost to replace the liner he said $4,000-$5,000. He was there about 2 minutes. Not once did he mention I would receive a bill for $150 even though he did not complete any service. When I received the invoice in the mail I was surprised as I was never told upfront when scheduling or from the technician that I would be charged either way. I called and spoke to Dawn and explained the situation. I asked that the invoice be voided since no work was completed. She informed me that there was a charge for the truck coming out whether work was completed or not. I explained to her that this had not been explained to me at any point while dealing with their company and I did not believe it was fair that I should pay for services that weren’t complete; especially since I had another company come out after and they were able to complete the task without me buying a new liner. Dawn told me I had the right to feel that way however, the invoice still stands. Unfortunately, I feel I was being hustled into buying a new liner and this doesn’t show much integrity on the part of Johnson’s Pools. Very disappointing to say the least.

Johnson Pools works from Massachusetts Avenue in Pensacola, Escambia County, on Florida pool contractor license CPC1458622 — current since January 2015. Their domain has been registered since 2004, so the name predates the current license by a decade. They build new pools and handle renovation, repair, servicing, spas and outdoor living, and describe themselves as a local family-owned company serving Pensacola and the surrounding area. 24 project photographs are published.
Google has them at 3.8 from 165 reviews. The Florida average across the 346 builders on this directory is 4.52, so Johnson sits about seven tenths below the middle — and 165 reviews is a large enough record that the gap is a description of the business rather than a run of bad luck. Eight reviewers name their professionalism, and the strongest account describes a large project run start to finish with the owner present throughout.
Six of the twenty most recent reviews are one or two stars, and two of them are worth reading together. One customer came to Johnson because their parents had a good experience, needed a liner replaced, the system upgraded and lights fitted, and describes the result falling short. The other makes a sharper point about how complaints are handled: that the company replies publicly to negative reviews offering to put things right, and that reaching them directly afterwards is a different matter.
That second claim is the one to test rather than take on trust, in either direction. A public reply is easy to see; what happens after it is not.
They keep written pages for Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Milton, Fort Walton Beach and Crestview — the western panhandle across Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa. Those pages are written for their places rather than one template with the town swapped, which is less common on this list than it should be.
Do not rely on the review replies. Ask for the names and numbers of two customers whose complaints were resolved, and call them — that is the specific allegation on this record and it is checkable in one afternoon. Get the scope and exclusions in writing, especially on renovation work where the liner, the plumbing and the lighting are separate jobs that can each move. Get a completion date with a consequence. The license is real and checkable above; ask for the insurance certificate separately.

Answered from this record — not by the business.
Yes. Florida pool contractor license CPC1458622 has been current since January 2015. Their domain dates from 2004, so the name is older than the license. Ask for the insurance certificate separately — Florida publishes nothing that confirms cover.
On 165 reviews it is meaningful. The Florida average across the 346 builders on this directory is 4.52, so they sit around seven tenths below the middle, and a record that size does not move on a handful of bad days. It describes a business that disappoints a real minority of its customers.
One customer who came on a family recommendation describes a liner replacement, system upgrade and lighting job falling short. Another alleges that the company answers negative reviews publicly with offers to put things right, and that following up directly is harder than the reply suggests.
Ask for two customers whose complaints were resolved, with numbers, and call them. It is the one allegation on this record that a single afternoon can settle.
